Chapter 127: Royal Wedding

Hallie woke up and realized two things. It was the day of the wedding, and someone was walking around in her room.

She squinted in the golden light and realized it was Mirabel and a couple of other maids bringing trays of makeup accouterments and rolling a garment rack.

“It feels really early,” Hallie said, barely opening her eyes, “What time is it?”

“I had to be here early to protect you against eating donuts,” Mirabel said briskly, “or any other dangers. Do you feel you might turn into a bridezilla?”

The maid tilted her head and looked down at Hallie with concern.

“Donuts?” Hallie muttered groggily. “Sounds like a good idea.”

“That’s exactly what I mean! We don’t want you putting on extra weight before you get married.”

“I don’t think it works like that.”

“You never know,” Mirabel insisted, “Better to be safe than sorry. That’s why I brought you this healthy breakfast of fruit and yogurt. You’ve got to have clear skin when you get married and all the cameras are on you.”
