Chapter Twenty-Four | Avalon

I close the door and try to hide the smile that mercilessly lines my lips. It’s currently eleven o’clock at night, and Alexander has just headed home. All of the previous events flood my mind, causing my heart to race all over again. If I’m being honest, I just had the best sex of my life. It’s enough to leave me giddy as I head for the kitchen to grab a midnight snack.

When I hear the knock at the door, my eyebrows furrow. Alexander must have forgotten something…

I make my way back to the oak entrance and open it, expecting to see those stormy grey eyes waiting for me. Instead, my stomach drops as I meet a pair of familiar hazy blue orbs.

“Jackson…”

The man wears an expectant smile, though I can’t say I’m enthusiastic to match the expression.

“Avalon, hi. It’s so good to see you.”

“I wish I could say the same,” I bite back, crossing my arms. My insult doesn’t seem to faze him.
