Chapter 25: A Dinner Guest

I couldn’t tell him the truth after Thanksgiving dinner. I would do it soon when I felt the time was right.

It had been a few days since the break ended, and Chase had not messaged the fake profile, which kind of worked since I wanted to come clean.

I crashed on the couch and started to play games on my phone curled up in a nice fleece blanket when the door opened quickly. My mom walked in and dropped a few grocery bags.

“Oh shoot,” my mom said and tried to pick up the fallen bags. I rushed over to help her.

“You’re home early.” I brought the few bags I could manage over to the counter.

“Yeah, well, I had to rush to the grocery store because I forgot when I invited him to dinner that we didn’t have half of what I needed here,” my mom said, rushing to unload the bags.

“Um, who?” I asked.

“Who what?” Mom started shoving things in cabinets and the fridge.

“You said you invited someone to dinner. Who did you invite and why?” I asked in confusion.
