Chapter 85: The Plan

"Alright, tell me," I said, begging Chase to share his plans with me.

We made it to the restaurant, and our parents were spending some quality time at the bar while we waited for our table. Emma was on the phone with some guy she had been talking to, so we finally had some alone time to talk things over.

My mom already had a glass of wine in her hand, and she seemed to be getting along perfectly with Mrs. Handler. They were two intelligent women. This could be the start of a new and beneficial friendship.

"I feel peer pressured right now. This is not a safe environment," he said jokingly.

"Oh, stop it! The suspense is killing me here," I said, nearly shouting it at him.

Did he decide to go to school with me? Then again, it was too late for him to apply. Maybe late admission or the following semester would work. Or maybe he found a different career path.

He just smiled at me and used his straw to spin the ice in his drink around.

"Did you find a job?" I asked without thinking.
