Chapter 28: I Am At Your Mercy

*** Triton's POV***

I crossed over familiar terrain. But, this time, it felt more sleepy. The trees were now completely barren and asleep beneath a thick carpet of leaves. The whole forest felt like it was sleeping, but I knew that the forest must be alive with the tensions between our packs.

I felt like that energy permeated the whole world right now. This feeling of bitter hatred. This distrust and misgiving about everything and everyone.

My mind returned to the meeting a few days ago. I remembered my father speaking in raised tones with Ariana's father. And I remembered the smug personality of Mr. Stevens. Like he was above arguing, and the rival packs were children they must control.
