Chapter 62: Rogue or Enemy?

*** Ariana's POV***

I walked outside with my father. The sun was now high in the sky, and we were headed to our house. My mom had stayed home this time, saying she could not bear to watch the decision. But she also said she would make us cinnamon banana pancakes. So I was happy she was home.

My father and I decided to walk through the forest to get home. The forest seemed alive and beautiful this Spring because it was green and filled with color. I heard the ravens take off from their perch on a nearby tree. I looked over and thought it was strange.

"Oh, must just be a coyote or something," my dad said with a grin. I nodded and smiled, but I saw my friend, the lonely Raven coming towards us.

"Dad, what is he trying to say?" I said as I paused. I watched my Raven circle overhead, and I felt my feet grow damp with sweat and tension.

"Nothing, honey," he said dismissively. "He probably sees a dead little creature and is preparing to eat."
