For the both of us, this is so much like a dream. But it isn't.
Afterwards, we sat together and I listened attentively to her as she told me her life's story. All about her childhood, growing up. She talked about Vixenda and herself, when she was done, in turn, I told her about my own life.
I don't know how long passed while we tried to catch up, until the nurse entered the room.
"The patient has to rest now, sir." She said as she entered.
"No, I don't want to---"
"No, she's right, you have to rest." I countered gently, getting up from the bed. I patted her head and helped her get under the covers. "Get some rest and be strong, honey."
"Okay.....daddy."
My heart warmed. The words like a healing balm to a heart that's been so unused for so many years.
"We'll all be waiting, alright? So, have no fear and rest so well." I spared her another glance at the door.
