Chapter Five:

For the first time as he scanned his way from down to up, she had a pair of sneakers that was so worn out that it would barely survive the night. A blue and yellow flowery printed gown that stopped around her ankle gave way to the sneakers and a yellow knitted sweater. Her hair was knotted in two pigtails.

He wanted to laugh. He really wanted to laugh. A girl standing before him, interesting.

Her face looked bare and natural but puffy like she has been crying. Her eyes were big and beautiful. The only thing that had a hint of hope around her were those big beautiful green eyes of hers. She looked like she had just left a fish store. No wonder people were murmuring.

The sharp pain again made him hold the left side of his head. It hurt badly.

"Sit," he commanded and she melted into the seat like jelly.

Nicholas waited for her to start chirping but instead, she stared at him waiting for his next command. "Talk. Name?"

"Talia," she mumbled.

"Full name?" He grunted out of pain.

"Talia Jacobs."

She looked too young to be here. Too tender. How did she even find her way to this place? Because Nicholas feared that she could easily get lost in the city. "

How old are you?"

"Eighteen."

"What do you do?" Ah, that was a stupid question. Wasn't it obvious?

"School."
