THE NEXT DAY

"Hey"

I was making toast in complete silence, fearing the moment he woke up, but it didn't take him long, seeing that I had barely started the coffee and cut the bread...

When I turned, he was just standing there, hands in his pockets.

"That didn't take long." I didn't know what to say. I felt really embarrassed, like I was a teenager again, flushed by her first crush.

"I usually notice when someone leaves my bed." He said with a bit of a smirk. I could tell he felt more comfortable with me again because I hadn't seen his cocky-playful side since back when we were together.

"I'm sorry," I said, but I found myself laughing softly as I did. The situation was a mess. "You know my situation and I really didn't want to make it weird between us, we still have too much to fix... I guess it just felt right yesterday, but now..."

"Now it feels like a mistake." He finished, he still had a half-smile on his face. But I could see his eyes saddened.
