Chapter forty-one

I got home in the haste with Charlie in my arms. I slumped against the door, my body slipping down to the floor.

I let out a deep sigh, checking on Charlie she hadn't made a sound since the beginning.

Her big eyes gazed at me clueless about what just happened. I thought they had caught me and would use her to hold a leash on me.

She giggled, waving her little fingers at me.

"You do know when to shut, don't you?" her head tilted to the side. How cute.

I was scared for Charlie, maybe staying with me was really dangerous.

After bathing and feeding her. She went to sleep immediately from exhaustion and the sun had gone down.

I wore a black hoodie and a mask going back out.

I had unfinished business to attend to, going back to the alley near the coffee shop where I last left them.

Well, they wouldn't be there for sure but they left a lot of trails behind so it was easy to track them down.
