Chapter sixty-nine

We got all the children out of the small cramped passage.

"What do you have there?" I bent down to one of the little ones, who held a toy-like pistol. One of them brought his own and showed it to me.

"We were told to use it to defend ourselves if it woke up." He answered,

I took the little gun from them checking if it was loaded. It was not loaded with bullets but with a strange clear liquid.

"They said it would make it sleep back if we shot it, and if we didn't it would eat us alive."

I understood what he meant, it would send them to sleep but the littlest noise could wake them back up. To escape without fighting was inevitable. They must have been scared and before they could even pull a trigger it takes courage.

I patted one of them on the head,

"You did well"

I searched my bag for a loaded flare, aiming it at the sky.

Bang!

It shot red smoke in the air, Blake came to my side after checking the perimeters.
