Present Day
Upon Greshyn’s return, with Sterling settled in his basket under the knight’s watchful eye, Tillie collected the soiled clothing and baby’s cloths from the bedchamber and carried them to the laundry room. “These are from the Lord of the Silver Dragon’s chambers,” she told the woman who greeted her at the door. “And need to be returned there.”
As she turned to leave, a man down the corridor caught her eye. He was dressed in the royal colours, the doublet that he wore blue velvet embroidered with the golden griffin and finished with gold braiding, his tunic in the bright yellow, but he was human – something unusual for the King’s employees. He was handsome, in a youthful, open-faced way, cleanly shaven, and bright eyed.
He smiled and bowed and then gestured with his hand for her to accompany him.
