Present Day
“Shh.”
Tillie was jolted awake by a hand over her mouth and grasped at the man’s wrist in alarm before her eyes adjusted to the dark and she recognised Oberyan’s Fae bard friend, Elorshin. When he saw that he had her attention, he released his hold.
He leaned down to place his lips against her ear. “It is time. Quickly now.”
“The boys…” She whispered back. “They sleep in the antechamber off the Lord’s room.”
“Quickly,” he repeated and rolled from the bed. The light in the room changed as he opened the door and slipped out into the main chamber.
She dressed hurriedly and collected the bag of supplies that she had put together from under the bed, slinging it over her should as she tip toed to the bassinette where Sterling slept. He protested when she lifted him into her arms, and the wetnurse woke in response.
“Is everything okay?” The woman asked, blearily.
