Chapter 34: Mysterious Healing and Fairy Friend Title

Lucas rested for a while and everyone that entered the room to talk to Lina looked at him in reverence as if he was some type of god.

After Lucas managed to get his stamina up to max, he began to head out to do surveillance of the block to see what changed during his leave. But right before he could exit the room, a man in dirty clothes approached him and bowed slightly.

"Milord, If you are free I would like to have a word with you concerning the food situation in our kingdom." His tone didn't carry a single ounce of embarrassment and Lucas began to think that the people in this settlement of his were losing their minds.

Lucas nodded for a moment and pretended to ponder on the subject before replying with an air of grandeur.

"Lead the way, young man,"

The young man stopped bowing and led him into one of the nearby buildings that were being worked on. After entering the building Lucas became amazed at the sight that was inside.

Thousands of plants hung from the ceilings and grew in various plots of small segregated chunks of land. If Lucas had to guess there were probably hundreds of different types of plants here, some he hadn't even seen before in his life.

"As you see, Milord, there should be plenty of food for everyone to have here but I just had some questions for you that Lina said you may be able to answer,"

Lucas stopped looking around the room and focused on the man in front of him before using his Skill to see who exactly he was.

<: Ryan Grint. : Tier 1: Tier 0: : 20>>

: Ryan Grint was an up-and-coming Botanist, but after the apocalypse, his dreams were turned into ashes. He has a skill with plants that is second to none and has shown that time and time again with his various research papers and various genetic experiments on plants.

'Hmm... Someone who shows serious promise and use for our new land,'

"Ask away, Young Ryan," A look of surprise appeared on Ryan's face at the sudden acknowledgment of his name and he quickly replied with a sense of pride on his face.

"It is a pleasure that Lina has shared my story with you. I hope all she said was well and good but if not then I must just accept it,"

"The main reason I wanted to talk was to ask about the quality of the soil in this city. To my knowledge, it didn't have the magical qualities it currently has before the apocalypse began."

He paused and looked around the room, motioning for Lucas to observe the many plants that decorated it.

"It may come to you as a surprise, but I have only been growing these plants for the last 4 days."

Lucas took in the view of the plants once more and realized that perhaps the 3 points of divinity he spent on miracle were a little overboard.

"If my calculations are correct then these plants have a growth factor of around 300 times what they usually have. And with my skills, I can make them grow nearly instantly with just a little bit of mana."

"So we effectively don't need to worry about food shortage for quite a while..."

The young man smiled at Lucas's conclusion before beginning to speak once more.

"Correct, though I was wondering if you knew why the soil was so potent in the surrounding area... It seems unlikely that this was natural. In addition to this, we have managed to procure quite a few beasts from the wild that seem rather docile. We have started experimenting with them and have found that some of our people can become beast tamers if they grow a bond with the creatures."

'Perhaps this will only bring benefits to me,' Lucas thought to himself before answering the question that Ryan had proposed.

"It was a combination of my skills that increased the overall quality of the city... I'm not exactly sure what it did but it seems like the fertility of the land has been improved vastly. If it is at all possible, do you mind sending people out to see the differences in the city? I would like to understand what has changed from my skill and if sacrificing what I did was worth it,"

"Of course Milord. I shall send a party out at once." Ryan said before quickly exiting the room without another word.

Lucas tried to get a word in but before he knew it Ryan was already gone.

'Why are they addressing me as if I am nobility?"

Lucas shook his head and thought it was best not to question the views of his new friends. Lucas headed back to HQ and found Lina sitting on her bed drawing out building schematics for what seemed to be a barracks.

"Lina... I have something for you," Lucas said before reaching into his bag and pulling out a vial filled with the tear of Mother White and passing it to Lina.

Lina had a look of confusion on her face but as soon as she touched the vial her face went pale white.

"L-Lucas... Where did you get this from... Don't tell me..." She trailed off and a distant look appeared in her eyes.

'OH FUCK, she thinks I killed Mother White,'

"No, no, no, no, no... I did not kill the old fairy. She gave it to me willingly in return for me freeing her from her captives,"

Lina immediately started to feel better as she quickly opened the vial and drank whatever was inside without hesitation.

A strange ripple appeared on her body, almost as if rings of energy spreading through her.

She started to spasm lightly but before Lucas could even react her wings puffed out from behind her and grew two times the size they previously were.

If Lina's wings were about the wingspan of Lucas's arms outstretched on either side then now they were double what they used to be.

The wings healed themselves nearly instantly and a blue light flooded through them before waves seemed to come alive in them, causing the surroundings to shutter.

The butterfly that was nestled into Lucas's nape quickly flew off towards Lina in an attempt to calm her down.

After Waldin touched her she seemed to giggle lightly and fell to the floor as if being tickled. Her wings instinctively closed and she began flailing around.

"Stop it... Stop tickling me!"

Lucas watched the two fey's play and laughed lightly.

'It seems whatever that lady gave her not only made her better but seemed to improve her strength by a large margin as well.'

After Waldin and Lina had finished playing, Waldin rested on Lucas's shoulder once more before beginning to sleep.

Lina smiled at Lucas before tackling him and giving him a death-like hug.

"Thank you so much, Lukey. You mean the world to me,"

Lucas laughed gently and rubbed Lina's hair.

After the two of them seemed to finally finish fully reuniting, Lina turned serious and looked Lucas in the eyes.

"Did Mother White say anything to you after you saved her?"

Lucas thought for a moment while recalling the encounter between him and the old fairy.

"Yes... She said that She owed me a favor and that I was to be a friend of Fairy's... or whatever that means."

"She also said that she and her people would come to my aid if needed."

A look of amazement filled Lina's face at the words that he had just said and she began to do a little dance.

"Have you gone through the official ceremony yet?" Lina asked while quickly doing a little spin and pumping her fist into the air.

"Ceremony?"

Lina smiled even brighter and immediately flew up into the air a few feet and gave Lucas a gentle kiss on his forehead.

"Alright, now you do me!"

Lucas looked at her in confusion before gently giving her a kiss on her forehead as well.

After doing so, a strange light enveloped him and seemed to be absorbed into his skin. Shortly after a system notification rang out.

Lucas looked at the crazy benefits of the new title he had received and realized he just gained the ability to fly.

'It looks like befriending Mother White was the best option that could have been chosen... It looks like I have truly been blessed by the gods,'

Unbeknownst to Lucas, a specific person was watching his journey very closely... And all of that person's chips were on Lucas's success in this competition.
