Chapter 35: Skill Point

Lucas read through his skills and debated on what skill to evolve with his newfound skill point.

'I'm intrigued at what Would turn into. Would it turn into a teleportation skill or a time-stop-like skill? That just seems a little too powerful and out there for it to be a tier 2 skill.'

' Could also be useful. The first time I gained it I felt as if creating things would be easier. Almost like it would come naturally to me,'

'I think it's safe to say that is a no-go since it already drains all my stamina upon use,'

Lucas kept tossing ideas back and forth before finally deciding on a skill that he hadn't touched at all during his adventure thus far.

Lucas looked at and pulled up the description to get a refresh on what it did.

---

: Requirement: Have one level in [Evolution: Infinite]

You are evolving. Your body adapts to situations faster than others. You gain 10% additional resistance to all negative statuses. In addition to that, your classes all have an evolution limit of tier 10 as well as your skills.

---

'Passive resistance improvements are useful and the last ability seems to be what has truly pulled me through this world so far,'

Lucas thought for quite a while before deciding to finally put his skill point into it.

'I can spare wasting a point with my current strength. And I mean, what could possibly go wrong?'

. Confirm Evolution?>

'Sure,'

---

You have evolved into the perfect creature. What will come of it... you may never know.

You have changed your mana into a substance stronger than most.

Your body has evolved into something tougher than the strongest standard creature on terra... or used to be at least.

---

'Hmm... All of these skills are rather vague.'

Lucas looked through all of the skills and decided that it was between two choices.

' and Suit me best since I only really use mana for and some other less important skills,'

'But which to choose...'

Lucas turned from the screen and looked at Lina who was still laughing to herself with giddy.

"Hey, Lina, if you could change into something would you rather change your body or do something mysterious?"

Lina looked at him as if he was stupid before replying "Something mysterious obviously! Who doesn't like a good secret,"

Lucas nodded to the statement and made his decision.

'I choose ,'

A pain-wracked Lucas's body as he felt everything about him change in an instant.

He fell unconscious but instead of waking up like normal he instead found himself staring at the system prompt in the infinite darkness.

---

Your mind is just another muscle in your body and you are going to use it as a muscle is meant to be used... with brute force.

Reality is something that is often hard to change but with your mind... with your powers... it becomes like clay in your hands. You can shape it however you want.

You can connect your mind with other systems and electronics given enough time and training... You could literally erase someone's progress in life if you tried hard enough.

---

'What. The. Fuck!'

Lucas scanned the races in front of him and realized what it meant by evolving. It meant he would change his race into an evolved form.

He read through the races and noticed that they seemed severely broken.

'I suppose this is my third race upgrade...'

'I can't choose the brute even though it fits me the best right now. There is just no point in focusing on one thing too much. Especially when the other two are just too enticing.'

'Reality Bender and Interface Connection... If Interface connection is what I think it is then I should pick it in a heartbeat.'

'If it means I can hack into other people's systems and manually change their stats and abilities then that is just broken,'

'I suppose I have to choose it if it is what it says it is,'

'I select !'

---

Lucas woke up heaving for breath and realized that everything around him was buzzing with energy.

"What the-"

He opened his eyes and as he did so he saw that there were strings attaching almost everything together.

Balls of light resided in people and electrical devices and strings connecting them to a flowing substance that flowed through the air.

Lucas reached out towards one of the strings and as soon as he touched it he felt like his mind was going numb as waves of information filled his mental space.

Stats appeared in his mind that seemed unreadable. Skills that didn't make sense. Thousands of words echoed through his mind that sounded like gibberish.

He instinctively reeled back in pain as he felt his mind flare with pain.

>

"FUCKING HELL, YES, JUST SHUT IT OFF ALREADY!"

As soon as he released the last word out of his mind everything went back to normal and he found a few notifications filled his system chat.

---

:

+100 Psionics

+General Mental Resistance

---

Lucas let out a shaky breath and looked around him and noticed Lina staring at him with a puzzled gaze.

'Did I really yell out loud?'

"I'm fine Lina... Just had a bad dream is all,"

Lina frowned at the obvious lie but went back to planning out the defenses of the base they were living in.

'Show me the skill description of my new skills please...'

Lucas felt weak after the new experience he had just witnessed but pulled onwards anyways.

---

You open up your mind to the channels that fill the world. Accessing and understanding these channels takes time and effort but in due time you will grow to learn what they mean and slowly be able to piece together your grasp on them. Control and patience are everything. DO NOT RUSH THIS.

---

You have evolved once… but will you ever truly stop?. You gain 100% additional resistance to all negative statuses. In addition to that, your classes all have an evolution limit of tier 10 as well as your skills.

---

'Hmm... Good gains but it seems like this new skill of mine will take some time to understand. Good thing that I finally have found a home so I can relax and practice for a while!'

Lucas plopped down into a cot and rested his mind for a while before someone woke him up.

"Hey, Boss! Little Sister asked me to talk to you about seeking guidance," A gruff voice echoed out.

Lucas snapped his eyes open and stared at the man who appeared in front of him with wariness.

The man was roughly 6 foot 2 inches tall and had an intimidating air surrounding him. He had a long black beard and a ruddy face that looked like it had seen many hardships. His eyes were a dull brown and his teeth were bright white.

'A man who takes care of himself no matter the condition he is in, I like this guy already,'

Lucas stood up nonchalantly and reached a hand towards the man who returned his in a handshake.

"The names Mich. I'm an entry-level builder. I used to be a construction worker before 'this' all happened," Mich motioned around him.

"Little sister Lina told me I should seek your advice on what to do about the perimeter and how to increase its defense,"

Lucas nodded his head in understanding before following the man to the outside of the camp to see what he was talking about.

After approaching the edge of the camp Lucas noticed that something was off immediately.

The gate Lucas had entered from was barely supported from the inside of the camp. On the outside of the wall it looked well fortified but it was quite the opposite from this side.

"Ugh..."

This was gonna be a tough one to fix.

"I'm not too smart at this construction stuff. I honestly rely on my skills pretty heavily when it comes to crafting and the sort but I could try and do something with this,"

Lucas cracked his knuckles before approaching the gate and assessing what needed to be done.

Before he could actually start thinking about the situation, however, Lucas felt a spark ignite in him as if he understood everything that was in front of him perfectly.

< has leveled up to LV: 5 from backlogged experience!>

He felt the skill guide him in his effort as he picked up some nearby construction equipment and began to fortify the gate.

Skill activated! You have gained double strength and dexterity while you craft this item.>

Lucas immediately felt as if everything had become lighter and he started to move at an increased pace.

Mich could only stand back and watch in awe as Lucas began creating supporting pillars and crossbars that would help fortify the gate in a way that made it withstand brute force attacks.

He knocked down the wall to half the size it was and focused on the weak points of what remained.

'This is amazing!'

Adrenaline flooded Lucas's body as he moved in a blur. Metal was placed and boards were hammered into place.

'The larger a wall the more weak points there can be. So if I make it shorter and focus on making it easier to defend then it should naturally improve the defensive nature of it.'

Lucas spent the next few days in this all-time high as he felt his crafting skills continue to grow. Walls had been made and spikes had been planted. Doors reinforced and people armed. All without the use of his active skills. It was truly a sight to behold.
