Loose Ends (Pt 2)

"We're alone, just as you wanted. Now spill... And don't try to stall. If I discover you're wasting my time, you'll suffer a far more deserving punishment than the initial." Major Lanre said.

"I understand fully well" Michael answered. "Now as for what happened, it goes thus."

"We were just taking a stroll around our street, our parents weren't home, so it was our chance to break curfew and run wild. We noticed something in the Dump at that moment and before we realized what was going on, we were brought underground. We were still recoiling from the shock when we saw a light glow coming from within the passage. Thinking it was an exit, we went further and saw the Gate. Unaware of what it was, my brother reached out to touch it, and suddenly he Awakened his ability and accidentally removed the barrier covering the Gate, making it fully functional. The Gate then sucked us into it, and it wasn't till after a while before we found a way out. As we stepped out, we were surrounded by your agents, which brings us to where we are at this point..." Michael finished, making an innocent smile.

"Are you for real?" The Major bellowed, clearly annoyed.

"Is this a joke to you? You expect me to believe this nonsense?"

He slammed his hands on the desk between the both of them.

"I believe I told you the consequences of wasting my time. I hope you're ready to face it" The Major angrily said as he stood and headed toward the door.

"Major, relax... I wasn't done" Michael called calmly.

"What did you just say?" The Major looked back, furious at his disrespectful use of words and casual approach.

'Just who does he think he is?'

"All I have said is what happened..." Michael started.

"At least, that's what you're going to tell your agents out there, as well as your superiors or anyone it may concern." Michael paused.

The General turned back and moved towards the boy. He sat back down, interlocked his fingers while still looking angry, and asked a simple question.

"... And why would I ever do that?"

"Because I'm going to tell you what really happened, and then offer you a deal," Michael said.

"What impudence" The Major snorted. "Why don't I have you interrogated and thoroughly tortured. Let's see you maintain that cheeky attitude after a session."

"Well, you could try that... But it won't work." Michael said, smiling.

"Though if you want your officers to know about your secret deal with the Emir, as well as your relationship with the Senators, not to talk of your countless corrupt practices and fraudulent activities, along with proof, you can try it." He said, with absolute confidence.

"H...How do you know about those?" The Major suddenly flared and quickly waved it away.

"Are you seriously threatening an officer of the Law, especially one of such standing as myself? What proof do you have?" He asked, trying to turn the tables.

"Say what you will, but my COMPLETE INVESTIGATION sees through all your façade. Even right now, you're thinking of how to do away with the evidence in the secret safe within your private quarters, behind the wall adjacent to your reading desk. The passcode is 133398740, with another password of 465009." Michael added, revealing the futility of him feigning ignorance.

"W-what? How did you?" The Major spoke, now panicking.

"If I decide to let this get known to the officers, there'll be serious repercussions. You can try to run home and swiftly destroy the evidence, but I'd have completed the deed by then. You can try to place a phone call and arrange for the evidence to be destroyed, but all calls here are monitored, besides, there really isn't anyone you can call on such short notice to safely eliminate with such an important matter."

Major Lanre Sanni was already beginning to feel extremely intimidated by the boy, using the last of his wits to try figuring out what to do against what Michael said.

"You could try discrediting me, but I'll have you know that an investigation will still be conducted into you, given the details of what I know. After all, you can't possibly know all the dirt I have on you." Michael answered, clearly enjoying himself and getting comfortable.

"Y...You said there was a deal..?" The Major said, as his voice fell, and his face looked downcast.

"Now that's what I like to hear," Michael said. "I knew I could get through to you."

"What do you want?" The Major finally asked.

"It's simple, I want you to register the three of us in the Index for ability users, but not at the present date. I want us to have been registered exactly 9 years ago." Michael said.

"B...But if that had been the case, you'd have been in the Special Ability Academy since then, but you must have had normal education till now." The Major protested.

"There's no need to panic. Special operatives possess the privilege to still keep their children until a certain age, when it becomes inevitable to leave for the Academy. I'll be capitalizing on that." Michael responded.

"That means... You are...?" The Major said, shocked.

"Indeed, my parents work in this department, they're also your subordinates. Now enough idle talk, can you make it happen?" Michael switched back to the commanding tone.

"Yes, I can do that... Is that all?" The Major asked obediently.

"I also want a comrade of mine, the fair one, to have a completely registered profile Nationally and at the state level. Birth Certificate, passport, and all essentials that enable him to live a normal life as a Nigerian citizen." Michael said.

"That would take a little time, but I should be able to do it." The Major squeaked.

"I want them within three days," Michael commanded.

"Y...Yes, I understand…" The Major answered.

"Finally, I want no further investigation into our identities, as well as our involvement in the case of the Gate. Any sort of interference with my personal life and I will totally ruin you, understand?" Michael spoke, with a tone of finality.

"Yes, I understand." The Major said.

"Good, oh, and yeah... Make sure to give Commander Frank, and Special Agent Lara a raise and a promotion okay?" Michael added.

"Definitely." The Major answered without asking about his involvement with them, though he already had a faint idea as to it.

"I was going to tell you what really happened, but I've changed my mind. Stick with the narrative I gave you, and alter it a bit to suit the situations as they arise. I'll now tell you the specifics for my directives, as well as my exact instructions and how they'll be carried out. Take notes" Michael said, as he was ready to fully explain what he wanted, and how he wanted it done.

As he had expected, this would be easy.

After thoroughly dealing with the matter at hand, they would finally be able to begin the next phase of his plan. There was no room for error, or everything would unravel.

"Now, for the next step," Michael said as the Major wrote down his every word.
