"Seems like I can't expect any of the Mutagen to bear their fruit soon. Heh."

Five meters in height, the Inquisitor Golem floated with only its upper torso intact. Its two arms stretched into limbs bigger than its head and both cradled the air as if it held something invisible.

The small head scanned the surroundings. Showcased on the Inquisitor Golem's chest was a crystal core that emits sparks of electricity as a small forcefield sheltered it securely.

[Do you want to use your Appraisal Charge, Jack?]

"No thanks." Jack snickered. "I'll be going raw with this one. It's been a long time since I fought with a battle puppet before."

If it wasn't obvious enough, every autonomous battle giant used some kind of fuel or core reactor to move its body. Damage that core, and the machination fit for war would stop moving.

As a ray of light blessed the inquisitor with strength, the bulking mass of stone and gravel gazed upon the perpetrator who awoke it from its slumber.

Without warning, the golem charged towards Jack with an arm ready to be hurled.

As it began to swing, the golem's hand excreted a propulsive force that resembled a steam of blue dusts before he clenched his fist.

The vapor was blasted away by the wind right after something small exploded within the clenched fist. Upon noticing it, Jack squinted.

'There is something there.'

In a split second, Jack discarded his weapons to the side for an easier recovery and threw his body the other way to avoid the smash.

The ground exploded upon impact as chunks of the floor flew across the ground. A vapor of blue dust gradually permeated the air around it, infusing the crater enshrouded by smoke with strange energy.

Jack kept moving, he left both of his swords in exchange of turning his arms into limbs for walking.

His agility had increased tremendously when he swung from branch to branch up on trees. It made his limbs slightly stronger and flexible for even more precarious movement.

"Primal Monkey Style!"

He then shifted his gaze as he kept sprinting with four limbs like a supersonic gorilla, having his tentacle to act as the prehensile tail and hold onto the halberd.

'Sheesh!' Jack began to reconsider using the Appraisal Charge. 'There is definitely something on its palms!'

Jack continued to run around the entire ruin like a lunatic. As the smoke on the crater in front of the enshrouded door started to disperse, he hoped that the golem would be able to break the door with that massive impact it had caused. Sadly, there was not even a single dent on the mammoth door.

'Are you kidding me?!' Jack thought as he slid out from pillar to pillar, taking a breath while he peeked. 'How strong is that bloody door?!'

Continuing the heavy rush, the Inquisitor Golem shoveled the charred dirt and stone with its hand, digging through the asphalt and stalagmite. It then splashed it onto Jack's direction.

The small launched projectile immediately turned into flickers of red and decreasing in velocity until it eventually calmed down into slow motion, leaving a wide black cloud and thin red lines as they slowly moved forward.

There were multiple lightning bolts travelling back and forth through the slowed flying bits of charred soil and rocks, until they abruptly blasted themselves onto Jack like a barrage of BBs.

Jack avoided most of it by moving unpredictably, hiding in-between pillars and increasing the distance gap.

Eventually, Jack couldn't be found within the Golem's perception.

In the middle of the rising smoke and clouds of blue dust from the aftermath of the maelstrom, a jagged blade flew and pierced the pretty fog, right into the crystal core.

The only thing that was stopping the blade from causing a huge damage was the force field on its chest.

Turns out, the force field was as strong as a chunk of steel. The nicked projectile was quickly deflected and flung onto the ground; a shrill clang as the golem scanned its surroundings for its enemy.

As the smoke cleared up within the ruin, Jack finally appeared within the Golem's perception. His eyes fixated upon the tall machination with a nervous grin.

"Well shite."

He had already expected the sword to just get deflected or blocked, worse case scenario; broken. The protector of the ruins turned its entire body, creaking with the constant sound of gears switching.

Jack quickly started running once again, both his hands and legs touching the floor as he ran laps around the golem. He was looking for some other weak point, some other exploit he could take advantage of. Of course, while also making at least twenty meters of gap to it within this large ruin.

All of a sudden, as if a pilot had finally gotten full control of the golem's body, the ruined guardian accelerated at terrifying speed before stopping and unleashing a whip of air on the surroundings, gazing at the running monkey below.

Jack almost tripped and landed his face first onto the freshly broken asphalt if not for his tentacle-tail. "This isn't a Golem! They're not supposed to be this quick!"

The Golem abruptly clenched its palm into a fist, creating a small explosion within it. Unlike back then, Jack could now get a clear view of the action as it happened one meter above him.

"Is that thing trying to fly like a fighter plane?!"

In the middle of his rambling, he managed to catch a glimpse of the forcefield on which the Inquisitor Golem's chest disappeared.

With his life on the line, Jack put most of his strength on all of his limbs. He also hardened the Petra Tentacle in case that explosion managed to fracture and tear it apart.

Like a gavel being slammed within the courtroom, the golem quickly descended upon Jack with the verdict to seal his fate. Using his tentacle to propel himself away from the danger, Jack lunged just at the last moment as the shockwave caused by the explosion caused him to be sent further tumbling into the air seven meters from the ground.

Thankfully, Jack managed to land safely on a sleeping pillar with his tentacle taking the first initial impact and softening it for his body. Unfortunately, the tentacle was connected to his nerves so he felt every jolt of pain surging through the tentacle and into his spine.

[Petra Tentacle's Health> 90%(-10)]

As he finally landed on the ground, sliding down the pillar he landed, he was screaming inside—very, very loudly. Thankfully he was able to preserve his cool.

[There is a split second down time on the forcefield that is protecting the Inquisitor Golem's crystal.]

"Yeah, I saw that." He stumbled on his other jagged blade right beside him. Jack then picked it up, gripping the handle tightly. "Before diving, it's better if we could test the water."

The hunk of floating stone then shoveled its arms into the charred soil and stones on the crater once again. This time, Jack meticulously stared at the Inquisitor Golem from the distance instead of running away.

At that moment, the Golem flinched for a split second. It might be a poison in disguise, the blessing that it received as an autonomous battle puppet. A feature that was more or less a bug for the machination.

Animated objects without any soul can't feel the wavelength and anonymity from that of a predator. If there were any living beings within the vicinity of the ruin, they would be immediately terrified of the looming animosity that shrouded the entire area.

Jack himself wasn't even conscious of this. All that he knew that he needed to watch patiently, taking every pixel of information into his brain.

The information to kill that thing.
