How We Met

I wake up before everyone else and stare at the ceiling. 'I gotta come up with something a little more believable than Luci being a demon. I should just say she's a friend I met on my way back from a walk and decided to bring her with me, but that's not exciting enough...' "Oomph *cough* You little, hmmm you're going to regret that!" I whisper shout at the girl who just planted her fist into my stomach. 'She's a little gremlin I swear.'

Bringing my hand up I play with the purple streak of my hair for a bit before slowly pushing Luci onto Blake. I scoot my legs off the bed and stand up with a stretch that felt good in all the right places. I grab my scroll from off the ground, must've fallen off while I was sleeping. I rub the sleep out of my eyes and creep into the bathroom so I don't wake anyone up. After closing the door and flipping the switch, I do the essentials. Washing my hands, brushing my teeth, throwing my clothes into the hamper. Turning the showers handle so that it would be just before scalding hot, and wait for it to warm up before stepping into the shower. The school provided some soap, a rose scented body wash with the same odor shampoo. I stretch in the shower letting the water run down my body as I reach for the body soap and spread it over my body, soon rinsing it off. I repeat the same with my hair, and linger in the shower a bit longer before turning it off and grabbing a towel from the shelf next to the showers door.

'I uhh, I don't have any underwear to change into... *sigh*' I reach back into the hamper and grab my clothes before walking over to the sink and plugging the hole. I alter my semblance just enough so that it would't melt the clothes but would kill any bacteria or germs on it and fill a third of the sink with the purply substance. I fill another third with water and let my clothes sink into the sink, see what I did there... I unscrew the hand soap and pour a bit in and start mixing everything with my hands. Once I'm sure everything is clean I let the sink drain and ring out the clothes, now its time to wait...

----- A few hours later-----

Ok, I won't make that mistake again. My arms are tired from flailing my clothes around to dry them faster, it worked I think. Sighing again I put on my cold boxers and sports bra before walking back to the bedroom and seeing that some light was slipping past the curtain. 'They should be up soon.' Going to the draws I open one of them and grab a boys uniform. It was a plain pair of black dress pants, a white T-shirt, a red tie, black ankle socks, and a black vest with gold buttons and lining. I put on the pants first followed by the T-shirt, then the tie and finally the dress shirt. I reach down next to the dresser and grab my plain black shoes ad putting them on.

"ahmm" hearing some groaning I look over and see Ruby getting up. "Good morning Rubes, you should wake everyone up. I don't know what time we have classes or anything, but the suns rising so I'd recon soon." Shaking her head, Ruby lets out a hum and stands up. While she's doing her I walk into the kitchen area and go through everything. The fridge? Empty. The cupboards and cabinets? Also empty. Is this school so cheep they could't even give us cereal? Now i have to resort to waiting for my team to be ready to go to the cafeteria.

"*FWEEET* Good morning team RWBYS!" Well she's having fun with this. She caused one of the girls to fall from their bed. "What is wrong with you!" How's the floor tasting Weiss? I walk back into the bedroom with my crusade for food being a failure. Blake was putting her shoes on, having already gotten dressed while I was storming the kitchen. Yang was brushing her hair, bringing it back to her preferred style. Weiss was still glaring at Ruby from the ground.

"Now that you're all awake, we can officially start our first team activity!" Yang shows some random objects she packed and shouts out, "Decorating!" Weiss throws an annoyed look at Ruby "What!?" Blake stretches and opens her suitcase and holds it up. "We still have to unpack..." Her case pops open letting everything fall to the ground, "Annnnd clean..." With Weiss's attention on the mess that Blake just made, Ruby takes her chance. She sneaks behind Weiss and holds her whistle up to her ear and blows it letting out a shrill sound.

"Alllrighht... wait. Where's the little girl?" Hate to break it to ya Rubes, you won't find her in the morning. The four of them look around a little before turning to me. "Don't look at me, I don't know where she is. Be careful though, she's a fan of-" I get cut off by Yang letting out a screech. The cause? A hand reaching out from her shadow grabbing hold of her ankle. "pranks. I tried to warn ya." Luci cackles as she rises from the shadow only for her to get smacked on the head by an angry Yang. She looks over to me for help, but she deserved it this time.

Ruby takes this chance to intervene. "Ok, Luci, how do you know Slate? And why'd she bring you here of all places? And how'd you pop out of Yang's shadow like that?" Luci crosses her arms with a humph. I swear, she is such a child. "Well, Luci is my contracted demon, she is hungry so I brought her out. Simple as that." And now they're looking at me like I'm insane. Just tryna spread the truth. "Why would a demon be so... un-demon like?" You'd be shocked, there's a reason she is the way she is. "They don't think you're a demon Luci. You gonna let that stand?" Nothin like pouring petroleum on a house fire.

"Did I mention I'm the only one she allows to make fun of her? You probably didn't mean it that way, but that's how she took it~" The four of them look at me weirdly before the lights start to flicker causing them to panic a little. One glance at Luci showed the cause. Her features blanketed by a black veil with a scratchy smile stretched across her face. Shadowy hands, like those of a nuckelavee, rise from the ground reaching towards the girls in a sporadic way. The girls, try as they might, couldn't escape the hands and were quickly restrained in front of Luci. "If I were you, I'd apologize."

Not wasting a second Weiss, who was the one who made the rude claim, retracted her earlier statement. Luci raised both her hands in front of her and clapped, erasing all the inky hands and bringing herself back to normal, and smiled at the petrified girls. "Y'all just got caught, in less than 10 seconds, by someone the size of a chibi. How does it feel?" Weiss's face turned red in embarrassment as Yang and Blake side-eyed her despite having the same thoughts earlier. Ruby looked like she was caught in a nightmare, her face still pale.

"Luci, aren't you still hungry? Let's get something to eat. They deserve to decorate, and clean, with ought us as punishment." Nodding with me, Luci and I walk out the door and I start following wherever her nose takes her. We end up walking all the way down the hallway, and towards the last dorm. "Luci, it's kinda dumb for me to ask now, but you were masking us on the cams the entire time right?" All I get is a gulp from Luci who was too far lost in the smell of whoever we are hunting. Sighing I knock on the door and step back to wait for them to open it. Panicked footsteps make their way to the door, the clicking of a few locks rings out, and the door swings open.

There stands a short boy with scraggly brown hair, erratic yellow eyes, and a forgettable face. This is probably my favorite part when it comes to feeding Luci. Once she starts the hunt the target she locked onto starts seeing things, more specifically her. They see her chasing them, killing them, and finally eating them. The closer we get, the realer the image.

The boy looks up at me, but does't meet my eyes. "Y-yes... ho-how can I-i help y..." He loses his voice when he sees Luci who was drooling on my shoulder. Nasty, couldn't she just slobber on the ground. He tries to slam the door, but my foot stops him, and we step in. I look around, the dorm is a mess. Broken plates everywhere, clothes thrown randomly around, the only thing worth noting would be a picture of him and three other kids wearing Beacon's uniform. The kids were all crossed out, except for him... a lone survivor hmm. Imma make this easier for Luci.

I snap my fingers, breaking the kids staring contest with my ankle biter. "Look here kid, I hate to do this to ya, but I've made a deal and I plan to keep it. From what this place looks like you have no one waiting for you, no one to laugh with, no one to hang with... besides don't you miss your team? All it takes is a little sacrifice for you to go an meet them... what do you say? Just a little pain and you get to see your friends again." Entranced by my words, the kid reaches for my outstretched hand before jolting back and shaking his head. "Oh well, that's a shame... for you."

**TW (gore)**

"Ah-AHAHAahaha!" Oh the screams, they take me back. I watch the show as Luci materializes behind the poor soul and takes a hefty bite from his left leg, immobilizing him. She always goes for the legs first. With each bite, the screams rise until the kid screams his throat out and can only whimper. Good thing the dorms are soundproof, I could only pray for the people that would decide to make Luci's meal a buffet. Moving on from the legs, the arms are next. The kid's long dead, either from shock or blood loss. Probably both. Because she done't like the meat on the arms as much, she shreds through them making it look like a Grimm was using them as a toy. After that she lunges for the neck, tearing it off the body and gulping it down in one bite.

Now, with all of her favorite meat already eaten, she disappears into the shadows bringing what was left of the body with her. She's gone for a minute or two before she pops back up with a smile and some blood slipping between her lips and falling onto the floor. "How was it?" She turns to me with starts in her eyes, "He was wonderful! I mean, out of all my meals he was average at best, but still, can't complain. His blood was kinda like apple juice, which was weird, but his meat tasted like steak! The bones were horrible though, they were too soft and didn't put up any resistance. Did he not drink his milk? Oh and-" She stopped once she saw my blank look getting blanker each time she went more in depth.

*TW over*

"Overall it was good, I'm full now. So, do you want me to go back to your shadow?" She asks in low spirits, but... "Not this time, since the team already saw you there's no point in hiding you... *sigh* now we have to explain to them what demons actually are." Unlike common thought, demons are just mostly normal people that live in the underworld. The underworld is just the name for it, it's actually like a normal civilization with banks, stores, technology, you name it. In fact, demons don't even need to eat people to survive, that's one of the reasons Luci is unique. When demons reach a certain age, they can bond with a human. With that connection, the bonded demon can be summoned to the overworld. How long they can stay depends their bond.

Demons, however, don't often get a person to pair with as it became illegal to do so within demon society hundreds of years ago. After a human bonded with the king of demons at the time, the human betrayed the kings trust and poisoned him. The kinds dying words outlawed the bonding process, and every demon had to kill their bonded human. Through a strict process, all knowledge about demons was destroyed, except for folklore. That reminds me how I met Luci...

~flashback(3 years) Also 3rd person~

A girl with neck-length silver hair could be seen blankly staring at the trees surrounding the camp she was in. She was just told to go out into the forest and see if she could bring back a rabbit, her rescuer normally would't allow it but she couldn't shelter the child too much so she let her go. Taking steps into the woods, the girl saw a brown and silver spotted bunny hopping away from her. Raising the small sword she was given to slay the creature, she started running at it.

Closing in on the rabbit, the girl swung the heavy iron scaring the bunny into jumping away. Seeing she missed, the girl blankly watched it before ripping the sword out of the ground and resuming the chase. Swing. Miss. Swing. Miss. This kept repeating until the girl finally caught the poor creature, chopping it cleanly in half with the force of her swing. Grabbing the front end by the ears, and the back end by the feet, the young Slate turns around to walk back, but she can't see the camp. She doesn't recognize the trees, nor the small cliffs, she's... lost.

Tilting her head, she tries her best to follow the steps she left in the dirt but there aren't enough to track her way back. So, she just sits and waits. That's what she was told to do, when lost sit still and wait. And she didn't have to wait for long, footsteps were approaching her. Either three or four people from the sound of it. Standing up, she makes her way to the sound and it leads her to a small clearing with a tent in the middle. 'That's odd' She thinks, but makes her way towards it none the less.

That was her first mistake. Her second, getting too close to a person she didn't know. She walked up to a person who was sitting in the middle of the tent and tapped her shoulder. The girl turned around, with her face displaying confusion, her tongue flicks out of her mouth showing the tongue of snake. Her partners shouldn't be back this quick. When she saw that she didn't recognize the girl, she reacted instinctively when she saw how dangerous her purple eyes looked. One swing was all it took to knock the unsuspecting girl unconscious. "Ssshit, fuck! No one wasss ssupposed to be here... what do I tell Adam?" The girl panicked as she started pacing around the room, "Tell me what?" A red-haired man with two reddish-black bull horns, and a mask Grimm mask over his eyes walked in the tent.

"Uhh Bossss! A child walked in here and I may have knocked her out?" Adam looks down at the ground and asks "She's not a faunus is she?" The girl shakes her head no, and Adam takes a second just staring at the girl. "Then kill her." He shrugs and walks back out of the forest as the sound of a bullhead landing fades in. "Take us out!" Comes the shout of Adam as the bullhead fly's up and back to wherever it came. The girl looks down at Slate with pity before raising her swords and slashing down...

*Cling* the harsh ring of metal hitting metal sounds out in the tent. The faunus stares in terror as a pair of hands rise through the chest of the little girl while holding the sword she had. With a scared expression, the terrorist makes another swing to kill the girl but the hands use the sword to parry throwing the aggressor off balance. When she steady herself and looks back at the girl, she just about died of fright. Now standing, Slate is almost covered in shadows. The two hands that were coming out of her chest have taken place on her back, the sword dropped to the ground. But this thing... it isn't Slate.

Her normally creepy eyes are leaking purple tears, her teeth look like serrated knives, and her fingernails are like daggers. Her head tilts as she looks at person in front of her like a snack. "Uye olok sytat... nac I tae uye¿" Not waiting for an answer, the being uses one of it's shadow arms to launch itself at the faunus. Terror being the only thing on her mind, the girl dropped her swords and turned to run away. Unfortunately, it was too late for her. A third hand ripped through the grass and pierced through her stomach making her stop, and the entity itself landed on her back.

The sickening sound of bones breaking rung out, and the girl didn't even get a scream out as her head was bitten into. "Whats going on here?!" Another faunus, a ram one, screamed as he ran into the tent. From there on, it was a feast. The camp that held 5 White Fang terrorists, was never heard from again.

Just a mile from the camp the entity finally regained control of itself, no longer in a crazed state of hunger. Seemingly content, it laid down next to a tree. (What are you?) A voice drifted through it's head, (Can I have my body back?). The being nodded its head, and started making hand signs before reaching a shadow hand through its chest and dragging a ball of dark light out. Once the light was taken out of the body, it dived into its shadow. (Hello there, little girl, my name is Luci and i'm... a demon!) Said a very cute voice, that definitely wouldn't belong to a demon.

Now with her body back, Slate rolled her eyes, before she tasted something vile. Her eyes widen as she throws up, being overtaken by the metallic taste in her mouth. As she was throwing up, she felt something patting her back and took a glance behind her. There stood a girl, a little shorter than she is now, with short black hair and yellow eyes. "Yea, sorry about that. I got too hungry and lost control of myself. I didn't have time to stop during my genius escape. Oh, and don't worry about being a cannibal or anything. Besides the lingering taste of blood, all the meat and everything was transferred to me~"

Standing straight, Slate blinked at her and started walking back towards the forest. Raven should be looking for her by now. "A-ah! Where are you going!? Hmph, think you can get away? You're stuck with me now!" The girl ran after Slate, and jumped in to her shadow. Slate, despite being partially annoyed about the self-proclaimed demon following her, allowed it as she can't really do anything about it. Though she was curious as well, (Why follow me of all people?) Her shadow altered a little bit, as if Luci was shocked by this question. (We-well, you are the living thing that allowed me to escape hell, as such I was bonded to you... so I kinda have to follow you...) Slate hummed and squinted at a tree, eyeing the black bird staring at her. (Welcome to your new life Luci)...
