Chapter 97: Something is Amiss

Rhett’s POV

My body was buzzing. That was the first thought I had when my eyes opened to the light from the window, the bright morning sun shining down through it and waking me up.

The next morning when I had woken up I felt strange, stranger than I had ever felt before. And a part of that reason was because Eleonore’s arm was draped over my naked chest, her own body in no less of a state than my own. There was a rumble of appreciation in my chest when I noticed the purple marks that littered her body, but it was accompanied by a feeling of something else, too. Something that I couldn’t place.

I looked over her body to the other side of the bed, expecting to see my brother there—but he wasn’t. I felt my brows pull together in confusion as I looked around the room for him, but he was nowhere to be seen.
