Chapter 180: Loopholes

Eleonore’s POV

Michael and I had been walking around the woods for what felt like hours. Maybe it was, maybe it wasn’t. It seemed like the forests that surrounded my parent’s manor seemed to move… slowly. Like some twisted, distorted version of what time actually was.

I tried to wonder what sort of magic would make a place feel like this, and whether that held any reason as to why the inside of the house looked as old and decrepit as it did despite it only having been vacant for some years.

I couldn’t get over the shock, too, of it all. The way my aunty had described it she had said there was still family here, still people who I belonged to.

I wondered if that was a lie. Wondered if that was only because she needed to say it in the moment. Maybe in some ways, she was still holding out hope too for the person she used to be.
