Nathan stood in the fridge picking through the selection of deli sandwiches and cut fruit that she had. He placed them on the counter and found plates to put them on. He didn’t have much of an appetite either. But he thought if he ate as well, it would encourage Brooke to do the same. As he went about plating the food, he also tried to calm himself and think his way through his next steps.

He contemplated the idea of going with her. But he would be completely cut off and lost from everyone and everything he knew. Familiar or not, Brooke was a human, and asking the pack to accept her as his mate was signing his own ticket to exile and banishment. If he went to New York, he wouldn’t be able to come back.
