Chapter 23: Nevena

I don’t remember much after that, if I’m being quite honest with you. I know that Katarina brought me with her back to her room. I couldn’t help myself but feel the pang of guilt when I saw the broken window, but Katarina was still nice enough to conjure a bed for me to sleep in.

My head touched the pillow and I was out like a candle. I don’t know how long I slept exactly, but I know I had dreams of my mother, Rachel and Jessica and most importantly, Ivan. For some weird reason, I kept dreaming about him shirtless with that towel wrapped around his waist. I’ve never had dreams of boys in that state of undress before, but I wasn’t complaining.

Suddenly, after what felt like only five minutes, someone shook me by the shoulder and I opened my eyes, alarmed.

“You need to wake up.”

“What’s happening? Is the Academy under attack again?”

“No, calm down.” Katarina’s face came into focus. “You need to go to your detention.”
