The Collapse

With first semester finals rapidly approaching, I was working myself to the bone to stay on top of things. I was taking more tutoring jobs and working longer hours at the cafe on the weekends to save up for books and supplies for next term, which left less time to study. Hikaru was understanding, but I could tell it hurt their feelings when I asked for space until I took my last test.

I performed my tutoring sessions in the library, because it was quiet and there were always open study rooms at night that didn’t require a fee to reserve if you were a student. I liked to show up a few minutes early to get everything together. My rate was fair, but if I did really well it usually meant a big tip so I tried to go above and beyond.
