Chapter eight

PRINCE POV,

"Son, don't you think building a school and also a hospital at the same time will cost you much money, you have to think this through first" My father told me as we were discussing in his Chamber.

"Dad I planned for all this before coming back, I'm a medical doctor dad and helping the sick is the only thing that keeps my sanity that's the reason I want the hospital built as soon as possible, as for the money if that is what you are concerned about, I will handle everything, money is not the problem here but you and your elders cooperation" I explained.

"Okay, what can I say, I've already informed my elders about the school and they are happy about it, I will inform them about the hospital tomorrow, I know they will be more than happy with the news" the king said as I nodded.

I sigh in anger as the queen herself paraded herself into the king's chamber. I cursed within myself while watching her sit beside the king.

"My prince, I heard you want to build a school for our kingdom" she said with a cunny smile on her face.

"Since you heard, why asking?" I said.

"Son, watch your mouth, she is the queen and I hope you respect that fact" the king said as I almost laughed.

"Look dad, as long as I know, the only queen of this kingdom is my mother and not this thing here" I said while enjoying the pitiful look on the face of his wife.

"Your mother is dead, why can't you accept her as your mother, she is trying everything to be like your mother but you keep pushing her away even after all this years, you still kept your hatred for her throughout your stay in the states till now, son can't you have pity on this poor woman and start treating her like a human?"my father asked as I ignored his question.

I stood up to leave the room but stopped on a second thought.

"Father, the cheque I gave to you yesterday, have you have given it to the widows like I said?" I asked.

"Yes I did, they sent their greetings" my dad said as I nodded before leaving.

Heading out of the king's chamber, I cursed as I collided with someone.

My anger rose as I slapped the intruder.

"Are you blind?" I shouted

"I'm sorry my prince" the intruder said as she finally stared at me.

"What you?" I was surprised at the sight of one of my personal maid, she cleaned the traces of tears on her face with the back of hand.

"Why are you always dumb, are you blind too?" I asked still angry.

"I'm sorry my prince" she said with her head down.

"Just go" I said as I left immediately.

Mma's POV,

I tried to stop the tears from coming out but it seems my attempts was in vain as more tears keeps coming out. The slap was still having its effect on me as my cheek was hurting badly.

"God it was only a mistake"I cried silently as I head towards the bathroom to wash my face.

"My cheeks burns" I said while staring at the reflection of my face on a mirror kept in the bathroom.

"What are you doing here while lunch is almost over" one of my roommate asked as I was scared by her sudden presence in the bathroom.

"You scared me, you why are you not taking your lunch then?" I asked.

"I'm done with mine but you were not present at the table" she answered why staring suspiciously at me.

"I'm not hungry" I said.

"Hmmmm, I hope you are not hiding something" she said as she walked towards me while I moved back dodging my face from her.

"What happened to your face?" She asked with eyes wide open.

"Nothing" I hastily said and heads towards the door.

The sudden grip of my hand from her restricted me from going out.

"Don't tell me nothing, just look at your face, it seems like someone left their fingers on your face, your face is almost red and you said nothing?" She asked while glaring seriously at me.

"I said nothing beside why do you care? Are you my mother? I owe you no explanation" I shouted angrily venting all my anger at her.

"Off course you owe me no explanation and I don't care if you are killed or stabbed, it's non of my business, I just want to know if you fought with someone because I will gladly report you to miss Margaret, you know fighting in the palace is an offence and I can't wait to see you get punished" she said with an evil smile on her face while my anger rose.

"You are less of my problems now" I said while leaving the bathroom.

"A piece of advice, you better take me as more of your problems because I'm watching your every move, my eyes are on you" she said as I stared at her in surprise.

"What did I ever did to you?" I asked.

"Good question. You parade yourself as the most beautiful maiden in this palace and I'm sick of it. What makes you think you are special, because you are one of the prince personal maid?" She said as I was more surprised of her attitude. I always knew she was jealous of me. Infact almost all the maidens despises me but I never knew my God given beauty was the cause.

I stood dumbstruck at her words as she left the room not without hissing at me.

Prince POV,

I watched her as she dressed the bed without saying a word, at a point I felt pity for her for the way I slapped her yesterday. I gently kept my phone on the table beside me as I stared carefully at her. The prints of my fingers were clearly visible on her fair face, her natural hair covered almost half of her eyes as she was bent changing the bedspread.

My eyes darted at her legs which was perfectly created, I removed my eyes from her wondering why I was suddenly interested in her physical appearance. She stood up after dressing the bed and our eyes almost met but she was quick enough to look away.

"I'm sorry about yesterday" I was surprised at my own self, this is the first time I was apologizing for my bad attitude.

She nodded without saying a word, I stood up as I head towards her.

"Does it still hurt?" I asked but was surprised when she shifted back from me.

"Mma I said I'm sorry, I was angry yesterday and you were so unlucky to come my way at that moment" I said as I tried to come close to her but was disappointed again.

Her back collided with the door preventing her to move any further.

I carefully scanned her face before placing my fingers on the bruises on her face.

"I promise this won't happen again okay" I said as she nodded with fear visible in her eyes.

"You can leave, I will change the lilies" I said as I stepped back and entered the bathroom.
