Chapter Three: The Standoff

As the voices grew close to the home, Lysette and Penny began preparing to defend their home. Though they could not properly identify as belonging to the two men from before, they suspected this might have something to do with it.

" How should we go about this? " Penny asked as she took her defensive position beside the front door, crouched down as Lysette had previously instructed her to do in the past.

" We need to see how many there are before we make a move. We don't know how bad the situation is" Lysette whispers to Penny from her own position beside the window where she could peer through.

As she peaked her head around the window, she could see the same two men from before immediatly. They were standing on the back lawn, with an additional five men who were armed completely and seemed to be pretty confident. They had been observing the house for a while, which excused their confidence. But Lysette saw this as something she could take advantage of.

" They have around five goons in the backyard. They probably have a few more guarding the front just in case we did try to escape.." Lysette whispered to Penny, as she changed her position by kneeling down and crawling across the floor so that she was now standing next to Penny.

" Which tells me, that they think we are not going to put up much of a fight. If they suspect one of us a Witch, they obviously are not too threatened by it. But, they have no idea what we are capable of and that is where we win" Lysette smirks as she nods to Penny. " Its time to see what you've learned kiddo" and with that, Penny ducks to another room and slides beside a window that points out to the front of the house. And just as Lysette had predicted, there were three men standing out in front of the house, seeming to be slightly relaxed, their guards lowered which is just what Penny was hoping for.

" Why are you men here? " Lysette asked, providing a distraction and time for the two to coordinate their attack.

" Well we saw you beautiful ladies and we couldn't help but think to ourselves, that you two being on your own seemed rather suspicious" one of the men called out.

" And we saw you two practice fighting, which tells us that only one of you is a real potential threat. So, I guess you could say...easy pickings" the man continued which made Lysette roll her eyes in annoyance. Of course they would underestimate the two, having no real idea what kind of fight they are about to be in for.

" Now" Lysette calls out to Penny who proceeded to pick up a small chair from the living room and smash it through the front window. The surprising move caught the men off guard, prompting them to shoot at Penny who had ducked behind cover long before their bullets entered the home.

The men in the back yard, ran to the front of the house, believing that the two had tried to make a escape. And that is just what Lysette had hoped for. Placing her hand on the door knob, and opening it as silently as she could, she began her assault.

Transforming quickly into her Lycan form, Lysette ran behind the men, slashing and biting all she could, decimating them within mere seconds. Her fur, now coated in blood, dripped upon the ground beneath her as she gazed into the last three attackers eyes, having no mercy for their lives.

" WHAT THE HELL IS THAT? " one of the men shouted in fear, not noticing that Penny had now slipped out of the front door, approaching from behind the men and removing a small knife from her boot before stabbing and slashing her way through the last of the attackers. Their struggle and screams had not lasted more than a few seconds. And the ambush had been successful. Lysette had taken the time to transform back into her human form, still coated in blood.

" Well done" Lysette congratulated Penny who was slightly out of breath, huffing and heaving, doing all she could to collect herself. " Yeah well, the knife could've been bigger" Penny laughed as she stared down at the corpses at her feet. " Smaller is easier to conceal, trust me. It is the better option" Lysette assures her as they make their way up the front steps of their home. " We have to leave now, don't we? " Penny asked, though she had already known the answer. Of course they would have to leave. There could be more of these men, and they would come looking if there were. They would have to move on, no matter what happened now.
