Chapter Eighty One: The Old Friend

" How do you know my name" Lysette asked firmly, as Penny continued to stare on in shock. Penny took notice of the Guard surrounding Lysette and did her best to remain calm.

" You are well known within this Kingdom, how could I not know you? " Penny smiled, doing the best she could to be as respectful as possible. Lysette had alot of power within this Kingdom, and it would serve them greatly to not end up on her bad side.

" I would like to advise you that a Witch within the Kingdom walls is not going to be welcomed by many here..and I would advise you to be careful" Lysette turned to the guards at her back and with a simple nod, dismissed them.

" We are aware of this..but we would like to see the Lycans and Witches working together. We understand that the tension is high, but you must understand, that, we do not represent the Kingdom and even still, if we did, we do not share many of their sentiments. We know the Lycans are important just as well are. And we are here to ensure that the peace is in place" Penny crossed her arms, in a show of confidence.

" Well then we share the same goals" Lysette responded, containing the stern expression.

" You are here or moniter the birth of the Prince, aren't you? " Lysettes question caught Penny off guard whose eyes grew wide with the surprise.

" Yes..do you..know..um..do you.." Penny stumbled over her words at the sight of her former guardian.

" Yes, I do know who you are. I am not your version, but I do remember you. And if you are here to oversee the birth of the Prince..then there are things that we should discuss" Lysettes eyes glance over to Raven.

Penny looks back to her mother and then back to Lysette after confirming within her own mind " She can be trusted. She knows the majority, and there are some things..developments that I believe you should be aware of as well.." Penny looked around the area to ensure that Noone could over hear them.

" If you have information then perhaps we need to meet somewhere more secluded" Penny nodded and backed away to retrieve both Sybil and Raven and explained that they would need to return home.

And after doing so, Penny began to explain their situation. She explained Ember, she explained all of the precious attempts that had been made and how they now had knowledge, in depth knowledge of those attempts.

" So the world itself is on our side..and even it, is stumped on how to proceed.." Lysette was surprised and dissapointed. She had known so much, and gathered so many things through past cycles and yet here was Penny, the possible savior and the end to the cycles with a powerful Witch, and the world itself by her side even still, they had no true ideas on how to proceed other than to watch over Gabriel and Kara.

" I would prefer that Gabriel does not have to die but if it comes down to that, then I guess things will have to be done. I believe that Gabriel should be safe as long as I am here, and once he sent to Earth, you say that I will be there to oversee he and Kara's safety. That brings me some comfort. But.." Lysette pauses.

" We all know how quickly they move once they get back..and that means our window of opportunity is going to be very short" She adds.

Raven had sat in silence during the majority of this meeting, thinking of possibilities that they had not quite considered. And it was finally time for her to speak.

" I think..we have a problem..perhaps our biggest problem in the fact that we don't know what makes them great leaders " Raven stands up as she had usually done her best thinking whilst pacing.

" Are they great leaders because they are born that way? Are they great leaders because they looked upon past failures and saw what needed to change? Are they great because they were in love or are they great because they were chaotic together?" Raven had brought foward a very valid point.

" We know that they were great, but at the same time we don't know what made them that way. And until we figure that out, we are going to have an even bigger challenge. If we cut them off, does that possible risk the future regardless? " Ravens mind raced as did the rest.

Sybil had been present, overhearing the struggle and though she had a hard time completely understanding the entire meeting, she did have a theory, a suggestion that could be of some help.

" I don't mean to step out of my place, and I do say this with all due respect but it sounds to me like this Kara and Gabriel are both good and bad. Would it not make more sense to have neither of them in power. Perhaps, find new leaders who are more capable and less volatile? " her suggestion brought an uncomfortable silence over the room. It was a suggestion that Noone wanted to make but had considered within their own minds.

" Well they also managed to stop Aurora and - " Before Penny could finish her thought

" But we could do the same thing.." Raven answered.

" But if we do all this, there is a chance that you- " Lysette looks to Penny directly " Are never even born..do you want to take that chance? "

The question was a completely good one and one that penny had not quite thought of. Would she be willing to risk her own exisistance for the possibility of the world being safe? The possibility that Ember would be safe.

" I would risk it. I would risk if it meant that the cycles end and that everything can finally be corrected" Raven tried to Intervene in Penny's decision but Penny would not allow for it.

" This has gone on long enough and it has to end. One way or the other. We all agreed to that, we all knew that this was going to take sacrifice" Penny looked down at the floor.

" We could just wait until they are born. It doesn't have to be like this. There are other ways.." Raven reasoned.

" There is always another way, but it always comes down to them both. And it always has and it always will. And it can't come down to that, if they are not a threat to begin with" Penny sighed and sat back in her chair, as her mind traveled back to Ember and the last words that they shared. Whether it was a confession or whether it was to make her feel at peace..all it did was bring guilt for the choice that Penny was making.
