A hooded figure moved through the grassland, it was in pursuit of something that it had been hunting for a while. It was starving, endlessly searching for the prey. It needed too succeed, she could not fail at this task. It's life and many others depended on its success.
" Dammit" The figure muttered as she began falling behind its prey. It needed to move faster, but it was tired, it was weak.
As it ran through the brush, leaping over fallen branches and other random debris. And suddenly, it stopped moving all together. Allowing silence to fall around them. They caught a scent, something that was not suppose to be there. Something that had followed them, and could jeopardize everything that they had set out to do.
" I told you to not do this alone" a voice called out from behind the figure.
" I needed space..I did not realize that was so wrong?" The figure answered.
" It is when you push me away as much as you do. I didn't ask to be in this mess just like you didn't. But we are here either way. And we have to make the best of it"
There was tension, both had been together for quite some time and had relied on one another for survival despite being at odds. Their survival was dependent on their understanding that they needed one another, as it had been for so long.
" I just wanted time to myself. I wanted to clear my head and I wanted to hunt. And that doesn't have to involve us working together, I know what I'm doing. I'm a natural born hunter.." The hooded figured sighed.
" Yeah well you are also a dumbass" a figured approached from behind some trees and walked over to the hooded figure and once it had arrived in front of them, it pulled the hood back to reveal that the hooded figure was Gabriel.
" and you are just an ass" Gabriel sighed.
The other figure pulled back their own hood, it was Kara. The Fabled Princess of the Witches in the Underworld.
" We can't keep going like this. We can't keep fighting" Kara sighed.
" We aren't fighting. You are fighting me" Gabriel snapped back.
" I'm not real and you know it, I have been in your head this entire time. I never left" Gabriel added. " You know that I am gone. And I've been gone a long time..but still..you won't let me go..it's selfish" Gabriel insisted.
" I can hold on to the memories...that is my damn right.." Kara refused to listen to anymore of this aggression. She knew it wasn't right to hold on to him but she had nothing else. She had Noone else. She had nothing.
" Just let me go.." Gabriel pleaded but Kara shook her head. " No..I need you. I can't make it on my own without you" Kara refused.
" You have been making it without me. Outside of constantly obsessing over what is no longer there...you have survived on your own" Gabriel tried to convince Kara.
" I know that physically I have survived. But that's not what I mean. You made the choice to walk away. But I could never let you go and you know that. You are no longer physically here with me, my love..my mate...I don't care. I don't care how bad things got..no matter what..no matter how bad it got..it didn't matter because you were there.." Kara cried, as she fell to her knees.
" Your life doesn't start and end with me. We both know that. We both know the truth. I was just a part of your life. You have to find a way to live beyond me. To live in the world where I am no longer there. That's important for you. You have the chance to grow now and to fix alot of our mistakes by not being selfish.." Gabriel pleaded.
" I know that you don't want to accept it. And I also know that it's very hard. But this isn't healthy. This isn't going to help you move on" Gabriel sighed.
" I DONT WANT TO MOVE ON DAMMIT" Kara screamed. " I WANT YOU BACK" Kara was insistent. She would never give up Gabriel, she could never bring herself to do that no matter how much she tried. He was forever a part of her soul and her heart.
A silence fell between the two, A silence that lasted for far too long. It was as though neither could find the words that could bring either forward! And so Gabriel finally decided to reveal the truth.
" Right now, there is someone trying to correct our mistakes. And maybe she can fix everything. Maybe she can repair the damage that we caused. She is at our home right now, working on that but she is struggling. But you, you are needed here on Earth. You are needed to help rebuild it because it didn't have the benefit of being completely reset unfortunately " Gabriel spoke his truth to Kara who listened intently.
" We both know that no one would ever be able to fix our mistakes. And I've come to the realization that earth was never worth saving either" Kara cried into her hands, distraught over all the pain she had been through.
" You know you don't truly feel that way. You were pure of heart and in some ways, still are. Don't let the tainting of pain, blind you from the truth of what is needed..dammit Kara..fix things here. Fix them and do what you are meant to do" Gabriel insisted again.
" You can't feel sorry for yourself forever. You need to pick up the pieces and try to rebuild. Most of earth has done the work for you but there's still much that needs to be done. And you are the only person that can do it" Gabriel's adds
" I'm not ready for that. And despite all of the truth behind your words, I'm not ready to let you go. I haven't grown enough.." Kara cried even more.
" ITS BEEN 18 YEARS KARA.." Gabriel screamed in anger.
" And it will take a million life times more before I'm ever okay. I'm never going to be okay. I'm never going to feel complete because I have lost freaking everything. Why could I not have died too.." Kara cried and pounded her fist into the mud beneath her.
Gabriel simply watched on and complete silence.
" I think it's because you are more redeemable than I ever was. I was stuck in my ways, the best thing I ever did was love you, but the worst thing I ever did was to love you the wrong way. You made mistakes too but you managed to stay Alive and that means something. Your exisistanxe isn't an accident Kara..you need to keep moving" Gabriel knew that his words would never truly sink in with Kara but at least she listened on some small level.
" I will save Earth as I see fit" Kara finally wiped the tears from her eyes, tracking mud across her face with her hand as she rose to her feet, a new determination was in her eyes, one that troubled Gabriel.
" Its time for me to get what I want"
