CHAPTER 5- A LITTLE BIT OF KINDNESS
In my past life, I had always been teased and bullied, I was the product of an affair between my mother and father. My mother was poor and unable to support herself so when she fell ill only a couple of years after I was born, there was nothing we could do. With what little money we had we could only afford basic medicine and care.
When she passed I moved in with my father and elder half brothers who treated me poorly. My 'father' barely even acknowledged my existence. I did my best to get good grades in school in hopes he would show me even just a little bit of attention.
The school wasn't very different I struggled with communicating with people as well as holding up basic conversations leading people to think I was weird or strange. But in reality, I would stay up for hours talking to myself in the mirror and acting out different parts.
I wanted to become an actress and did my best to do so.
Luckily after years of hard work and hours of only being an extra in films, I got my first ever lead role in the live action TV series called 'The angelic Princess'
To tell you the truth I had initially auditioned for the villainess role, I feel like it was her backstory that made me want to play her. Being a disappointment in the family and pushed away for something you couldn't control, losing your mother at a young age. It was all too real for me.
But to my surprise, I was given the role of the female lead; I was told my personality and appearance fit her perfectly.
Getting that role changed my outlook on a lot of things. Deciding to break my way out of reality and play a character, no longer forcing myself to resonate or understand a person from my perspective.
Yet even after all of that of course when I reincarnate I'm repeating a similar life than before.
But despite knowing that, I still have hope.
.
.
.
It's been about a month since mother's passing.
Unlike in the original story a funeral was held for her, it wasn't that big. Just me and father.
My tears had all but dried up to that point but the ache in my heart still pained. I'm not sure if it was just me but I swore I saw sadness in fathers eyes. True sadness for the woman he claimed to have hated the most.
According to Kane before mother passed father had visited her, I'm not sure what words were exchanged but I feel like it had a grave impact on him.
Since that day the emperor has treated me with much more kindness.
Daily walks around the garden became almost routine, we would sit and the small table and chairs that the maids prepared and we would eat sweet treats whilst I told him about the things I had done that day. I had also developed a very close relationship with Sorren; who would visit every once in a while as a playmate. It was nice.
But I knew it wouldn't last.
.
.
.
"Father!" I said excitedly as I ran towards him
"Don't run your highness you might fall!" I heard Kane yell from behind me
"Huh?" I turned around no longer paying attention to where I was going only to find myself tilting toward the ground.
Before I hit it I felt strong hands clasp around my waist and hoist me into the air. "You heard him, don't run. You'll get hurt" The emperor's voice was cold yet soothing.
"Father! Today, Sovi, Claudette, and Marianne made a cake and it tasted really nice!" I laughed.
"Is that so." The emperor's lips turned into a small smile whilst putting me down.
We began to walk hand in hand towards the picnic area we typically had tea at. It was beautifully surrounded by flowers with a crystal blue lake nearby.
The whole garden was beautiful in my opinion, the gardeners take a lot of care in it.
Per my request on a whim, a new greenhouse has been installed and since I came here I noticed that the garden was more trimmed than when I had first seen it.
The garden is filled with the status of many different Gods including a full-body statue of the goddess Irene and Atlas.
This was the place Lucia and father came by often, but I feel as though it is a special place for just me and father. However, I worry that I will have to give it up one day.
"Your birthday is coming up in a couple of months is there anything you want in advance?" The emperor asked
"Uhm.."
Come to think of it I'm not sure if there's truly anything I really want.
Julius noticing my struggle piped up whilst changing positions in his chair " If you can't think of anything just yet then don't worry, we still have a couple of months. Don't rush"
I smiled and went back to drinking my tea, legs swaying side to side.
Looking back up I noticed that the emperor seemed more relaxed despite the fact he was more dressed up this evening wearing what I assumed to be military black officers gold braiding Hussar Jacket, shoulder along with shoulder accessories.
I noticed that father would always put effort into his outfit when we went out for picnics. It was unnecessary but nice.
Just as we continued our tea Kane approached us only to be welcomed with a glare from father.
"What."
"I apologize your majesties however a message has been sent."
Father stared daggers at him "And why are you telling me now? Couldn't it wait" He stood up "Can't you see I'm busy?"
"Yes but it is a message from the kingdom of Atheria"
Ah yes, the empire of Atheria. It's a bordering empire to Oraylea so the relations to each other are strong.
It seems like it's finally time we meet. Isn't it?
2nd prince or should I say- future crown prince Yuno
