Another Midnight Hunt (I)...

Daichi was sitting along with Bella in his arms on the balcony. Bella was sitting in front of him and she was leaning back on his chest with a content look on her face. While Bella had her eyes closed, Daichi was quite vigilant and he kept looking around for any signs of an enemy. Daichi had decided to consider everyone outside his group as enemies until proven otherwise.

It didn't mean that Daichi would go out of his way to create enemies or he would treat anyone outside his group rudely without any reason. Daichi decided to consider everyone outside his group as hostile because he didn't want anybody in his group to get hurt… It wouldn't hurt anyone if he decided to stay vigilant. It might save someone's life too…

After all, nobody could say for sure that the person standing in front of him didn't have any sort of ill intentions. Though it doesn't mean Daichi will always keep looking at someone with critical eyes… Within the group, Daichi trusted quite a few people. Besides his mom and Roberta, he also trusted Bella, Saeko, and Kohta. While he didn't mistrust the others, he didn't trust them like the ones just mentioned.

'Status Window' Daichi called out inside his mind. It has been some time since he has taken a look at his Status and he also wanted to see if the Zombies he killed some time ago were counted by the System for the Job requirements or not.

In the case of his Status Window, not much has changed. He had only killed Level 0 Zombies and he knew that he wasn't going to get additional System Stats from them, but he didn't expect that he wouldn't be getting the free Status Point for killing a Zombie. After all, with the help of Bella, he had killed at least one Level 1 Zombie, but nothing on his Status Screen had changed.

'It is possible that I am not receiving the free Status Points because I am going through the Job acquiring process' Daichi wondered internally, but he quickly realized that there was a way to confirm if his theory was right or not. He had Bella in his arms and unlike him, the woman wasn't going through the Job acquiring process. After all, she already had a Job. So, Daichi decided to open her 'Status Window'.

Daichi's eyes grew wide in surprise. Bella's stats were exactly the same he had seen last time. Even her Status Points were also the same. Daichi knew that she had killed a lot of Zombies after reaching Level 2, but why didn't she receive any free Status Points?

"Bella?" Daichi called out softly.

"Yes, my Lord?" Bella asked softly as she perked up after hearing Daichi call her name.

"Bella, did you stop receiving Status Points after killing those normal Zombies?" Daichi asked softly and moments later, Bella's face twisted with a grimace and her eyes started to fill with tears. Daichi immediately became worried, but before he could say anything, Bella started to speak up.

"My Lord, forgive me, I should have told you, but I forgot…" Bella whined with a pitiful look on her face. Daichi was sure that she was going to start crying if he didn't do anything. So, he quickly wrapped his arms around Bella and pulled her closer.

"Shh… shh… I am not angry at you" Daichi said as he started to caress Bella's back soothingly. "I am just asking you if you stopped receiving the free Status Points or not" Daichi clarified. After hearing Daichi's words, Bella sniffed and slowly a smile formed her face.

"Oh… Well… Yes, I kind of stopped receiving those after I reached Level 2" Bella answered with a sheepish look on her face. Daichi simply patted her head after her answer, which led Bella to giggle like a small girl.

'So, my theory is right. After reaching Level 2 you stop receiving the Free Status Points for killing Level 0 enemies' Daichi concluded inside his mind. Yes, he did have very little information and it might be something completely different, but this was the most plausible explanation.

After that neither of them said anything as they were just enjoying each other's company. Bella was extremely happy with her current life… she didn't care for anything other than her Lord and his women, so she wasn't even bothered by the ruined world. In fact, Bella was going to thrive in this world.

After a few minutes, Saeko arrived beside them with a small tray in her hands. "Do you want some tea, Bella?" Saeko offered, whilst placing the tray on the floor. Bella wrinkled her nose in displeasure.

"No! Bella doesn't like tea…" Bella huffed with an annoyed look on her face. Saeko softly chuckled after watching her reaction. Since Daichi didn't complain when she said that she was going to bring tea, Saeko guessed that Daichi wouldn't mind having some, so she simply poured him a cup.

"So, what were you thinking about?" Saeko asked softly as she handed Daichi a teacup. She had noticed the pondering look on Daichi's face as soon as she arrived near the balcony. Daichi gave Saeko a grateful smile and accepted the teacup. After taking a quick sip, Daichi revealed his theory to Saeko.

"Then Leveling up after reaching Level 2 is going to become quite difficult" Saeko muttered with a complicated look on her face.

"True, it will be hard. I don't have any proof, but I think that we can only get Status Points from beings one Level lower than us" Daichi added with a thoughtful look on his face.

"But if that is true then why aren't we getting the Points? We are still Level 1, right?" Saeko asked with a confused look on her face.

"That might be, but according to our Status Window, the Status Points option is locked. Bella here is already Level 2, and her Status Points aren't locked, it might be locked because we are going through the Job acquiring process, but once again it is just my speculation" Daichi released a tired sigh.

"There is going to be a bloodbath" All of a sudden, Bella blurted out as she giggled like a schoolgirl, surprising both Daichi and Saeko.

"What?" Daichi questioned with an unsure look on his face. He had clearly heard Bella, but he didn't understand why she blurted out something like that.

"Umm… Well, it is my premonition ability!! I had to sacrifice three virgins for the ability. It allows me to sense massacres and danger preemptively. Right now, I am sensing there'll be a massacre from that direction" Bella explained with an excited grin on her face as she pointed towards the bridge.

Daichi and Saeko looked at each other and it was Saeko who decided to ask the first question. "You sacrificed virgins?" Saeko asked with an incredulous look on her face.

Bella excitedly nodded her head. "Yes, I have sacrificed a lot of them. Once I sacrificed two virgin lovers to create a Cursed dagger. Getting a single scratch from the dagger would cause a fatal wound, resulting in a very ugly and drawn out death… I loved that dagger" Bella sighed with a longing look on her face.

'Yep… she's really messed up in the noggin' Daichi concluded. "You could get a lot of things by sacrificing virgins. My Lord, if you want, Bella can sacrifice virgins for you too" Bella offered with a hopeful look on her face.

"No, thank you" Daichi declined the offer without missing a beat. Bella huffed and started to pout in disappointment.

"I am glad that I am no longer a virgin" Saeko commented dryly and Bella started to cackle in mad glee.

"Don't worry, Bella wouldn't have sacrificed you even if you were a virgin. You are my Lord's lover and you have also been very nice to Bella" Bella corrected Saeko with a bright smile marring her face. Saeko had no idea how she was supposed to react to Bella's words, so after thinking for a bit, Saeko simply gave Bella a grateful nod.

"Bella, from now on if you are planning to sacrifice virgins, please ask for my permission beforehand" Daichi ordered with a deep frown on his face. He was completely fine with torturing someone to death, but he needed to draw the line somewhere. Sacrificing was a big no no… At least, for now. Bella said that you could achieve great things by sacrificing virgins, so he might need to achieve something similar in the future.

"Of course, my Lord" Bella accepted Daichi's command with a smile. She didn't know why her Lord asked something like that from her, but she didn't care. Since it was her Lord's order, she was going to carry it out with a gleeful look on her face.

"Good. So, you are saying that a lot of people are going to die near the bridge?" Daichi asked, now that he dealt with the problem of sacrificing virgins, he decided to focus on the initial problem. Bella had mentioned that there was going to be a massacre on the bridge.

Bella simply nodded her head with an excited grin. Daichi closed his eyes for a bit, then he finally came to a decision. "We are going to the bridge…" Daichi revealed with a nod of his head…
