Just one remedy 2

Things were starting to get confusing as I listened in incredulous astonishment so I decided I was going to tell them about the lady who had come to me with a claim to be my sister but, on second thought, I don't even know these people so how would I be certain about whom to trust? Should I trust them or the woman who called herself my sister? But these people seem to genuinely care about my memory loss. They want me to get it back unlike the other lady, but then I felt a connection with her.

THE PREVIOUS NIGHT WITH MAYA

I stood by the window side that night looking out through the window when I saw a mysterious lady standing downstairs very close to the trees smiling and waving at me. She was someone I'd refer to as an oddity and out of curiosity, I sneaked out of the room making sure not to wake Liam as I walked on my tippy toes.

"Who are you?" I asked her when I finally approached her.

She took off the hood covering her hair and looked into my eyes before she spoke.

"You really did lose your memory sister. My name is Maya Ryan." The lady said.

"Maya Ryan. How did you know about my memory loss?" I asked.

"I know a lot of things about you sister..."

"Stop... Calling me that, I'm not your sister." I quickly shunned her.

"Yes, you are. I'm Maya Ryan, you're Nardin Ryan my younger sister and we have another older sister Gwen Ryan." She said.

"Just stop. Who are you? And what do you want?" I asked again.

"We can't talk here, please follow me to somewhere safe." She said and tried to pull me but I resisted.

"Get your hands off me. Listen whatever your name is, I don't know you and I'm not going anywhere with you. You won't even tell me how you found out about my memory loss... Wait, how am I even sure you're not here to hurt me."

"Why would I hurt my little sister? I have no vendetta against you my dear. I've just come to see you. It's been a long time, sister." She said putting her right palm gently on my left cheek.

I don't know what it was about her palm but I felt at peace but I did not want to let myself get carried away.

"Maya, right?" I asked and she nodded gently. "If truly you are my sister then, what about our parents? I want to see them." I said.

"Listen to me Nardin, this place and this time are not best to talk about anything. Come with me." She said.

"No." I stared at her for a few seconds then spoke "if you're my sister, why are you hiding away from my husband? Shouldn't they know you?"

Maya sighed, "You know what Nardin, keep this." She said and put an amulet in my palm "whenever you change your mind, that thing will guide you to me." She said turning away to leave.

"Wait, how do I... I don't know how to use it." I said.

"The amulet is very powerful, it'll guide you." She responded and disappeared into the darkness.

AT THE COURTROOM (PRESENTLY)

"Nardin...!" The queen called out and I jerked. "I didn't mean to scare you, my child. You said you met a woman. Who is she? Did she say anything to you? What does she know about your condition?" Queen Charlotte questioned.

"One question at a time, your majesty." Zed said.

"I'm sorry. Nardin just tell us everything you remember about that woman including her looks."

"I... I... I don't remember anything." I lied. I already lost memory of who I was and what my life has always been and honestly, I wasn't even ready to allow anybody to mess it up even more. I can't trust anybody blindly so I have to keep what each person tells me at heart. Who knows, they might be enemies.

"What?! You just said you met a woman who knew about your condition." Queen Charlotte said.

"I did? I... I don't remember that." I pretended.

"Of course, you don't." Prince Liam said staring at me suspiciously.

"Zed, what is this? You said it was just the memories from before that will be lost." Queen Charlotte said.

"So I thought your majesty, but it seems her condition is getting worse." Zed said.

"I'll take her inside." Prince Liam said and gently took my hand as well walked into the room. As soon as we left, Zed and Queen Charlotte continued their conversation.

"Listen to me Zed. Something has to be done about her condition. We can't possibly present a lady with no memories of what happened two seconds ago in her presence to the people and soon, very soon Zed they'll start asking of their princess and you know what that means. If words about her amnesia get out, Liam will stand no chance against Percy."

"But your majesty, Liam is not interested in becoming the king of Akalon."

"He may not be interested because he already has his kingdom in hell but you know Liam is Albert's only legal child and it's only fair for him to ascend the throne."

Just as they were discussing, there was a knock on the door and a servant came in.

"Your majesty. Some messenger delivered a letter for you." The servant bowed and stretched out his hand so Queen Charlotte can collect the letter.

"Thank you." She said and took it then the servant left.

Queen Charlotte opened the letter which read 'Greetings, your majesty. Expect your stepson in less than twenty-four hours'

"Less than twenty-four hours." Queen Charlotte muttered and angrily squeezed the letter.

"What does it say, your majesty?" Zed asked.

"One of Albert's bastard sons will be here soon." She responded.

Meanwhile, as soon as I entered the room with Liam he spoke.

"Why are you doing this?" He asked.

"Doing what?" I asked him back.

"Faking it..." He said.

My heart dropped. How did Liam know? And was he going to hate me?
