How did Liam even know I was faking it? I stood there staring at Liam like some piece of wood.
"Answer me, Nardin, why are you faking it?" He asked again.
"Faking what? I... I... I don't know what you're talking about." I said with my voice wavering and confirming Liam's suspicions.
Liam scoffed. "Did you ever lose your memories at all?" He asked.
This time, It was almost impossible to deny it because Liam seemed very convinced o what he was saying.
"I... I did. Listen, Liam, I don't know who the lady I met was, I don't know who you are either and so I don't even know who to trust, so you don't expect me to tell you everything." I finally admitted.
Liam sighed. "How can you even forget?" Liam muttered.
"I'm sorry." I said. I didn't know what I was apologizing for but I just had to apologize.
"You should rest, we have a whole activity ahead of us. Call your maid if you need anything." Liam said.
"Thank you." I nodded.
The turn of events in the past few days has been worse than queen Charlotte had ever expected. Just like the letter received earlier said, one of King Albert's sons arrived in the evening, it was Percy, but before his arrival, Queen Charlotte already spoke to me and told me that no matter what, Percy must never know about my memory loss. She explained what my relationship with him was but went on to advise me to stay away from him and avoid personal conversations with him. She thought Percy was smart and that he wouldn't even take an hour to notice that something is wrong with me.
When Percy finally arrived, he requested we sit at the table together, well he was King Albert's first son and as tradition would have it, after the King's death, the Queen had no right to refuse orders from the King's first son until there was a new king. Queen Charlotte would have asked me to sit in my room but it was going to send a message so she had me sit next to Liam and ignore challenging conversations from Percy.
As we had dinner, I noticed Percy kept staring at me and it made me uncomfortable.
"Are you alright my princess?" Percy asked me.
"Yes, I am." I responded putting on a fake smile on my face. I avoided eye contact with him as he sat directly opposite me, something Queen Charlotte wanted to avoid but couldn't.
"You seem different today." Percy added but this time Ignored him.
"Well, I got a message that our little brother is dead." Percy said abruptly staring at Liam who wasn't eating for a response.
"Percy, can we not discuss that?" Queen Charlotte said.
Percy smiled. "Well, I only thought you should know. His death is one down for me." He responded.
I didn't understand what he was talking about but I'm sure Prince Liam and Queen Charlotte did.
"I'm sorry your majesty but I have to leave now." I suddenly said to Queen Charlotte. I was getting very uncomfortable in Percy's presence. He wouldn't take his eyes off me.
"So soon? You barely just ate your food." Percy said.
"I'm sorry but I'm not feeling too well, I might just puke all over this table." I responded.
"It's okay Nardin dear, go get some rest and let us know if you ever need anything." Queen Charlotte replied.
I nodded and left the room but instead of going to my room, I headed out to the garden. My whole life seemed to have a particular pattern, wake up in the morning, have a shower, have breakfast, and just wander around hopelessly. That was honestly a boring life to live. I sat down admiring the beautiful flowers when I heard a voice behind me.
"Does the room make you sick and not the garden?" Percy's voice said.
I turned around and saw him I knew I was almost trapped and hey Nardin, you must get away from him now.
"What do you speak of?" I asked Percy pretending not to know what he was talking about.
"You left the table without eating, you claimed to be sick but right now I do not see any signs of sickness in you." He said.
"Well, maybe your presence makes me sick." I responded hoping my words will hurt him and he would just walk away but scaring Percy off proved to be a bit harder than I thought.
He chuckled and came close to me then stared into my eyes "give me just a little time princess and I'll figure out what is wrong with you." He said.
Angrily I spat on Percy's face. "Stay away from me." I said to him and turned to walk away but he pulled me back.
"You've got a visitor." He said nodding in the opposite direction. I looked there to see a young man who was standing there and staring at me.
"Who is he? Have you come here with your minion?" I asked Percy.
"You seem to have forgotten your ex-boyfriend." Percy said and scoffed. "How shallow." He added.
I smiled stupidly trying to cover up what I just made him suspect now.
"Remember what you said to me that night at the white river?" Percy asked me.
"Yea." I said trying to cover up and avoid him heckling me.
"Now is the time. Go, Nardin." He said nodding towards Edward.
I foolishly left not knowing what Percy was talking about but I just had to pretend, but my pretense did nothing but confirm Percy's suspicions.
As soon as I got to Edward, he smiled and placed his hand on my cheek.
"I've missed you very much, my love." Edward said.
"What are you doing here?" I asked Edward. Percy already told me he was my ex and I knew exes should stay away from married people. Edward seemed a bit shocked that I recognized him but quickly pretended and pushed further.
"You invited me, Nardin." He said.
Being good at reading people's minds not magically though, I could see Ed was lying.
"Edward, I would never invite an ex-boyfriend to my matrimonial home." I said. "Stay away from me." I added and walked away. Looking around, Percy was gone. Edward quickly pulled me back to him and placed his lips forcefully on mine and that was when Liam was there, standing before us.
