Rei's Point of View
"Where is the key holder? We've been waiting for so long." I moaned while still waiting for our key holder.
We had been waiting here for an hour outside the classroom, our first subject teacher was coming but she was still not here. "Oh there it is!" Kyla said, "You can't wait." She added before he touched my shoulder.
I just smirked
."When did you learn to play the guitar. Huh, Rei?" Kyla asked when she saw my guitar in the other chair. "It's not mine, someone just left that to me when I was about to enter our school." I answered.
"Really? Why? For what?" She asked again. I closed my notebook and brought my face close to her, "Stop asking a lot of questions?" She snorted and turned away from me.
Our professor has come for the first subject. "Good morning class. Before we start our class i just want to say something connected to your finals requirements."
My forehead furrowed. With so many plates and other things they make, is that still lacking?
"This is your last requirement for you to comply with your finals and that is to join whatever organization you want or are interested in."
After Miss said that, our classroom was filled with whispers, many were howling and many were in favor.
"Iza, let's go to Cheerleading huh? I have a junior crush there!" I heard Kyla was with Iza. I stepped on his chair because they were just in front of me, "Hey. Are you serious? You really have a crush on your junior?!"
She giggled."He is not a snob, it's not like you. Dzuh!" Kyla complained to me and I just mocked her. "Tsk."
"Cooking Club, Cheerleading Club, Dancer's Club, and Music Club are open now starting this lunch break, you can go at their assigned faculties to apply." Miss added.
I don't know where I'm going, I'm not good at cooking, I'm not good at dancing, I'm not good at anything. I also have no talent in singing.
After class, Miss left and we were left here in the classroom to think about what organization we would join. We still have 30 minutes left with him before we go to our next class. "Rei! Let's go to cheerleading please?" Iza asked me who is still making puppy eyes at me now. "Stop it, you ass." I giggled. I looked right at the chair next to me, there was the guitar that had been handed to me earlier at the campus gate. I don't know how to sing but I know how to play the guitar somehow. How can I be its heartthrob at university if I can't learn to sing, right?
I immediately went to Kyla and Iza's chair. I knocked on their table, "I already know where I'm going to join." I growled then winked at them. I grabbed my bag and grabbed it as well as the guitar. I'm still babysitting it like I'm crazy when others look at it.
Lunch break is also over and we have finished our three consecutive classes, I have also finished eating so I will go straight to the Music Club faculty to register. I still carry the guitar given to me by my fellow seniors earlier at the gate. When I came to the faculty it was full of juniors and seniors who wanted to enroll. I, on the other hand, just went straight to their bulletin board where this year's officers and their other announcements are posted. I immediatelylooked at the officers.
President: Schan Laine Reyes College of Nursing
Is that the name of their President? After I looked at that I went straight inside.
Laine's Point of View
"Shane did you see my guitar? I've been looking for it before." I turned to Shane after an hour of searching for my guitar and I still couldn't find it.
The other juniors approached me and I confronted them. "U-Uhm sister, w-what ..."
A junior mentioned. Shane tapped him on the shoulder and explained. I'm sober now and waiting for their answer, "Mhmm?"
"They seem to give your guitar on someone by mistaken."
I immediately frowned, "What? Oh where is it now?"
"Uhm, we gave it to a senior there at the g-gate this morning." The junior said.
"Because it was our classmate's crush and then we gave her because we thought that was her guitar so that she would have a reason to meet his c-crush." She added.
I exploded. "Do you know whom you just gave it?" They just nodded.
The door opened and Jax was exposed, "Laine, there are so many seniors and juniors outside. Shall we not let them in?"
Jax was my Secretary for about four years that we were classmates in the college of nursing. I have also been president here for four years, the adviser of the music club liked me so even though I was just a sophomore, I am the President she has appointed until now. The same goes for Jax.
"Tell them that they will not only do the registration, they will also do the audition today."
"Copy!" He even thumbs up at me.
Before I prepared for the audition later I approached Shane first. "Come with me later ah? We'll find the one they gave the guitar to." Husstle.
Rei's Point of View
"We will let you in in just a few minutes but we will not only do the registration now, now we will also accept auditions." The man who was still holding the door knob of their faculty shouted.
There were a few juniors who left after they heard that. Auditions? They have not posted or announced that they will be auditions today.
I'm not scared or anything, I know how to play the guitar but my voice isn't that good. I was not prepared.
"Line up a line to sign up here after you come in for auditions." The man shouted again.
I have no choice, when I don't audition today no one knows when the next one will be. Intrams will be fully next week and they will definitely not be recruiting again.
I lined up still carrying this guitar, just now I noticed that something was written on its case,
Lai, Nursing.
It was definitely owned by a nursing student, but it doesn't look like nursing students handed it to me earlier. It is even written on their i.d lace that they are from a college of engineering like me and they still look like juniors.
Laine's Point of View
All juniors and seniors have entered the faculty. I'm just sorting out the attendance they submitted and finishing up their recruitment form.
"Jax, can you do this instead? I'll talk to them." I asked Jax because I can't finish the lunch break without talking to them and evaluating them.
When I entered the faculty room, they were seated, besides juniors to seniors. This is also my chance to find my guitar, we know one of them is holding my guitar, right? So I asked for them to raise their hands according to the department I would call.
"Are there any seniors here from the college of engineering?" I asked.
Some seniors, on the other hand, raised their hands, they were torn apart so it was hard for them to grope. Haaay, it's up to you. "First of all, I forgot to greet you a good afternoon. So, you filled up the forms earlier outside, right?" I asked and they nodded. "Now, I'm going to call you from your order earlier in the forms, okay?" I added then I sat on the side with Jax, we will start the evaluation.
"When i call your name please proceed to the front and ready your song piece plus your instrument." Jax said.
We already have a few juniors and seniors, after they perform we let them out and tell them to just wait for the list of those who have entered the club to open on our bulletin board in front of the faculty. Only a few seniors are left inside.
"Rico, Ajeal Rei. College of Engineering." Jax mentioned.
Her name is unique huh? Pretty. We saw a senior get up from his seat and go to the front. He brought a guitar and acted like he was preparing it.
"Uhm, can I ask for a favor?" We officers looked at each other, "What's that?" Jax asked her.
"Because my voice isn't that good yet, can someone sing with me and I'll play?" She favored.
"Go for it, Laine." Jax whispered to me. I adjusted my seat and asked him, "So why did you join here if you don't know how to sing? You even use my guitar? I noticed my name written on it as well as my department on the case of the guitar he was holding. How did that get to her?
"Eh? It's yours?" She shrugged.
I nodded. "P-I'm sorry, huh? The juniors just handed it to me earlier at the gate when I entered." She added.
"I didn't ask, I'll sing for you." I promised.
Jax frowned. "What are you going to play?" Jax asked her.
"Before it sinks in by Moira Dela Torre." She said.
"Can you do that?" Jax asked me.
My voice is beautiful, I know I can do it! Dzuh.
"All right. Take out my guitar and play." I said to her.
She took it out and started tuning, then she played the intro.
After that she looked at me, that's where I started.
Suspended in the air
I hear myself breathing
Hanging by a thread
My heart is barely beating
I haven't fallen yet
But I feel it comin'
Tell me would it be too much to ask
If you break it to me gently
She's staring at me while singing.
That I'm waking the next day
Without you beside me
And who I hold on to today
Tomorrow will just be a memory
That I would look back at all of this
And wonder why I stayed in here
Just to watch you disappear
So I breathe and let you go
How do I breathe and let you go?
The song ended as well.
"Okay, you can come out. Just wait for our announcementtomorrow. "Jax said.
"Wait!" I hold back. "You didn't even sing a little bit." I added.
"B-but my voice isn't really good, Pres." She shrugged.
Pres? Are we close? "Just a little." Shane added. I nodded.
She propped my guitar on her shoe and began to sing.
I can think of all the times
You told me not to touch the light
I never thought that you would be the one
I couldn't really justify
How you even thought it could be right
Cause everything we cherished is gone
And in the end, can you tell me if
It was worth the try, so I can decide
Shane's face and that of the other people in the faculty room were full of excitement, their smiles could not be painted.
And in the end, can you tell me if
It was worth the try, so I can decide
It was so nice to hear her voice. You wouldn't think she was a woman in the depth of her voice. I pinched myself because I couldn't be thrilled with her.
Leaves will soon grow from the bareness of trees
And all will be alright in time
From waves overgrown come—
I didn't let her continue the song, "Okay, wait for me outside because I'll take my guitar from you."
I stood up after performing the rest of the seniors. Shane hit my body and growled, "Uyyy! It's you. I saw you trembling while a senior was performing!" I frowned, "I'm going to shudder? Why? Is she Dan?" I giggled.
I went out and when I came out she was still there waiting. "You really waited, huh?"I laugh.
She ignored me and just reached for my guitar without looking at me.
"No thank you?" I added.
"I didn't borrow that from you, someone gave it to me." She answered sparingly while mumbling. This time she is facing me.
Her nose is pointed, her eyes look sleepy, her lips are red and she also has two piercings in her left ear.
"Whatever." I sigh.
I was about to turn around when she suddenly pulled my arm, facing me she let go of my arm and caught my waist with her right hand. "Thank you."
