It's already past ten o'clock in the evening. Raven came out from the bathroom with a towel around his nape, wipe his wet hair with right hand. He saw Kinrue sitting on the edge of the bed. There's a towel on her head. She's not wiping it dry and lets it be while staring at nowhere. He really regrets accepting responsibility for her, but sometimes Kinrue's silence creeps over him. She's not talking about anything after taking a bath. Both her eyes got swollen from crying and look pale from staying under the rain.
He wipes his hair and walk towards her about nagging but saw tears falling from both eyes. It's like an automatic faucet. Raven reaches out on the towel on her head and wipes it without saying a word. There's no way he can nag to a woman who's crying already.
A long silence lingers between them.
"How stupid are you to let yourself get drenched by the rain? Do you want to get sick again? I won't baby you, so stop being reckless." He said, but she didn't speak.
Raven sigh again and gets a blower to dry her hair. Another silence came. You can only hear the sound coming from the blower. It's raining outside, there's a thunder and lightning that adds the noise.
"Hey elf, do you mind telling me what's going on? Why did you come here if you have a home of your own? You didn't even come into the coffee shop. What the hell are you doing?"
For the nth time, Kinrue didn't say a word. She looks down, playing with her finger. In the end, he give up asking again and finish drying her hair.
"Let's sleep," He said, shuffling her hair.
Kinrue lies down on the bed, pulling the comforter and close both eyes. On the other side, Raven dry his hair before he sits down besides her scanning something on the phone. No one makes any noise. After a few minutes, he put his phone on the bedside table and lie down facing the ceiling. He looks beside and startle when he caught Kinrue staring at him. She has the same eyes as before, but this time is a little different. It seems like an eye of a person hanging on the thread of hope. This is what Raven hated on himself, despite of pushing away those women who come to him there's no way he can ignore someone as fragile as Kinrue. Both his sister and mother are kind person who never hesitate to help those in needs and he's used to respect any woman even if he hated them. He faces the palm himself because of the thought running inside his mind before spreading his left arm.
"Don't creep me out with those stares. Come here." He said.
Without a word, Kinrue move to his side and hug him, burying her face to his chest. He fixes the comforter and falls asleep in a few minutes.
The next day, Raven wakes up feeling something heavy on top of him. It's the same scene for the past few days and it scares him because he's been getting used to this situation in a short time. He rubs his eyes and reaches out his hand to caress the woman's hair.
"Hmm..."
"Elf, you're heavy despite of having this petite body. Get up." He said, but Kinrue rub her forehead on his chest.
A silence came between when his phone rings. He gets the phone with half close eyes and slides the answer button without looking who's calling at this hour.
"What?"
"Raven, where are you?"
"Home,"
"Home? Do you know what time is it now? We have a practice match against the other school at 10:00 a.m. in the school gym. There's no class today but the school admins let us use the gym for two hours. Fix yourself and come now." He looks at the phone to see whose calling and saw Mirko's name. "Come now, Callie is back."
The moment he hears the name, all his senses wake up. "W-what did you say? Callie?"
"Yeah, Callie Leroux, the volleyball team manager."
"O-okay, I-I'll come."
"Come quick, dude."
He ends the call, about to wake Kinrue, but saw her sit up while rubbing her left eye using left hand.
"What time is it?" She asked.
"Do you mind getting off of me first? How can you always end up in this position every time you wake up in the morning? This is a real bad habit of yours," He asked while Kinrue move to the side, looking around the place.
The weather is still not good until now, no sun is showing up rather a dark clouds. Any time the rain will pour down again. Kinrue yawns while thoughts are flying somewhere else. On the other side of the bed, Raven stands up and heads straight to the bathroom to do his morning routines. Afterwards, Kinrue follows and does the same. Both of them are quite used to doing the same things, which gives shivers whenever they think about it. After a few minutes, they look at each other through the mirror. Raven looks at her while wiping his face with a clean towel while Kinrue brushing her teeth. She couldn't make an eye contact with him so she looks away as soon as their eyes met and rinse her mouth.
"Are you calm now?" He asked.
"Yesterday, I didn't mean to come here, but before I knew I'm already standing outside the door."
He gets another clean towel, walks in her direction. "Did something happen yesterday? Why didn't you go to the cafe and ditch your work? Molly didn't come, so be thankful."
"It's my fault. I-I'm just..." She stop for a second and searching for the right words to explain.
"Why don't you go home?"
"I don't want,"
"Are you planning to live with me?" Kinrue flinch on what he said but still didn't give any answer. "Pack your things and live here, then."
She couldn't believe on what he said, so she stares at him full of confusion. "What did you say? You're being a creep sh*thead." An awkward laugh escape from her mouth.
"I'm dead serious."
"H-huh? Did you forget about the deal we had before? You should find a proper partner."
"Did I even propose to you? I'm not letting you stay here for some romantic purpose. You told me to take responsibility for you for the rest of your life. I'm doing my job, so do yours."
"M-mine?" she said, startled, hugs her body. "I'm not a prostitute."
Raven gives him a 'what the f*ck are you saying?' look before flicking her forehead. "What the hell is your empty head thinking right now? You only have one thing to do for me. Stop being a headache and behave yourself like a tame, loyal dog."
Those words he blurted out made Kinrue frown. "Loyal dog? Who told you I'm your loyal dog? Since when did I become your pet?" she asked in furious.
Raven chuckled and corner her in the sink, lower his head. "Since the day you cling to me like a puppy in heat, did you forget? Do you want me to refresh your empty, useless head?"
"Argh! Stay away from me, sh*thead,"
She tries to push him but he didn't move an inch. He just smirk to her and lower his head more, which leads their distance to half an inch. It gives chills to her body as she feels his breath.
"A morning kiss is good," he said, almost whispering. It made her jolt.
"K-kiss? Don't f*cking kidding me and move awa—mph?!"
Before she can even resist, Raven's lips already touch hers, give a gentle, quick kiss.
"I'll prepare breakfast, so come outside when you calm down. Don't take too much time of thinking how good I am and go out. I have a practice match today," He chuckle and walk outside the bathroom, leaving Kinrue with dazed gaze.
As the door close, she grabs into the sink to support her balance and glare towards the door. She grits her teeth and wipes her lips. Until now, she can still feel the kiss that they shared a few seconds ago. Her blood boils just thinking of him dominating her like a fool.
"D*mn you sh*thead!" She said, almost shouting at the top of her lungs.
Few minutes past, she walks outside and head towards the dining room where Raven prepares their breakfast. She sits on the chair without saying a single word. Upon hearing a rustling sound of pulling the chair, Raven looks behind and saw the raging aura of her. A grin escapes his mouth before he gets a plate with a ham and egg sandwich and gives it to her.
"Eat,"
"I don't know what you put inside. I'll never trust you anymore." She said, cross her arm and look away.
"You can watch me eating. Have fun."
He's about to pull the plate on his side, but Kinrue stops him.
"Give me a milk,"
"Milk? Are you a baby?"
"Don't f*cking ask many questions and give me a milk to drink!" She said.
"Fine." He walks towards the refrigerator, get a milk and pours it into a glass of water before passing to her.
They eat in silence, but it only took a few minutes when they heard someone ring the doorbell. Both look at each other in confusion. In the end, Raven stands up to open the door.
Another minute passed, but he didn't come back, so Kinrue follow him outside and see who came at this hour. It's only quarter to 8 o'clock in the morning, no one in their right mind will come disturb someone without prior appointment unless it's necessary.
"Hey, who is that bastard disturbing our breakfa—"
She couldn't finish her words as soon as she saw the person standing in front of Raven. All of them look surprise and don't have courage to speak up. A cold sweat falls down from her temple as she freeze on the same spot.
