"Why do the main character's parents often get the short end of the stick?"
That is what Mila asked while looking up at the sky. She was grumbling toward whoever sent her inside the novel she read before she died.
She becomes the mother of the main character, whose parents are both dead. Mila's character was merely a tool for the MC's character development.
It's a simple, fix-all solution. The author wanted to make the audience instantly sympathetic towards the main character, and the best thing he did was to have the MC's parents die.

After she avoided her death in the original plot, death flags kept coming for her. 

Will the original plot not end if she's not dead?

Ginalou raised one of her brows as she guessed that this was one of Christopher's pranks again.

"W-well. I didn't have someone on my side before you came, or am I just assuming that you were on my side?"

Christopher's expression looked gloomy and hesitant as he spoke about his true feelings. His arms hugged Ginalou tighter as he didn't want to let go of her the same way he didn't want her to leave him.

Ever since he had his awareness, he thought those others with awareness would be in one team, but he thought wrong. Robert and his people (Luther and Anni) don't actually act as one with Christopher. In the past year that they spent struggling with episode by episode, Christopher never received their help and was never informed of their plans. Although Robert was meeting with him and sharing information with him, Christopher could not feel that Robert and he were on the same team.

"What are you going to do with my make up kit?"
