The shadows that left their mark part 6

Bob Lee. "Um...Really?"

"Uncle Sean was the one who enlightened me."

Bob Lee. "How was that?"

"That's when we saw him on the anniversary of his father's death.

We talked about the past and Uncle Sean said that his father was a workaholic and that when he had free time he would go over his cases that were never solved.

Then it hit me and I thought I'd come to check it out."

Bob Lee. "so you came here before?"

"No, let's go in!

It's no use talking about the past, nothing will change.

We better get in there soon and make sure this is the right place, and I'll tell you if it isn't I don't know where else to look."

Nadine Memphis walked toward the entrance. "I go in the front, you stay in the back and don't say anything!"

We entered the place and I said. "Look on the shelves in our city, the year is 1993."

Bob Lee. "Why 93 if the father died in 1991?"

"Good question, Bob Lee.

It's because of the father's friends at the police station, they tried to solve the last cases the father was working on before he died, it took two years because of a bank robber who fled the state, they found him only two years later."

Bob Lee. "Is that cool, Nadine?"

Nadine Memphis. "I don't know, I don't understand how the federal government's file system worked that year."

"And does it matter, Bob Lee?

Look, this is the year!

Come help me look at these boxes!"

••••

Nadine Memphis. "So Alex?

We've been looking at these boxes for two hours, did you find anything?"

"Relax Nadine, look at these documents!"

Nadine took the documents I passed him and read them silently, some time later he finally opened his mouth. "Is this real, do you have proof?"

Bob Lee, who was reading another document, looked at Nadine and said. "That matters, the conspiracy just needs to be scared and I'm safe."

"You are right and wrong, Bob Lee.

I found the key too, so everything the documents in our hand says is true!"

Nadine Memphis. "I can't believe any of this.

This is the current head of the mint!"

"And what's the problem, he can't be corrupt can he?

The Mint Chief is just the beginning, look at this guy here, he's the infrastructure minister.

No one escapes corruption, the system exists before these guys were elected and took advantage of laws that were supposed to protect civilians."

Bob Lee. "I'm not surprised by anything anymore, after my brother came into my life, everything was extraordinary, without taking away the fact that corruption in government policy is natural."

"Going back to the documents Dad left, I found something about Alan Fitch.

Nadine Memphis. "What is it, is it something that will bring him down?"

"There's that too, but what's important is his past and how he got to where he is today, more precisely how he became camp director."

Bob Lee. "Did the father know him?"

"More than that, Bob Lee.

According to these documents, the father worked under Alan Fitch for several years."

Bob Lee. "He worked on what specifically?"

"Phoenix Program!"

Nadine Memphis. "What would that be and why only you understand, Alex?"

Bob Lee. "I'm with Nadine on this sibling, you're not talking to your subordinates.

We don't know much about the conspiracy, just what you said."

"I know, but these documents are very revealing, every piece of information here is worth gold!

If this is just a summary, now I understand why the conspiracy fears Fulcrom so much.

Take a look at these piles of documents and we'll talk later."

Nadine Memphis. "It won't be possible, do we need to get out of here, or did you forget that this location is a Texas state government storage complex?"

I smiled awkwardly. "Sorry, let's get ready to leave."

Bob Lee. "Hey, Alex!

Isn't this that guy Hugh Meachum?"
