Chapter 14

It was Rashad, I recognized a regular in this gossip at a glance.

He is Kent's only son, a playboy who knows everyone in the upper-class social circle of City A, and he changes girlfriends as frequently as changing clothes.

"Girl, you rock. When you open your mouth, you can poke this gentleman's pain." He said, pinching my chin.

I shook off in disgust and took a step back.

Kent frowned and yelled, "Rashad, what are you doing? Now that you're here, you can go back to your seat."

Rashad, as if he hadn't heard his father, took another step in front of me. “You look so familiar. What's your name again?"

The flatterer got up, walked up to Rashad and said, "Young Master, this is Krista, the daughter of the designer of the Cross River Bridge."

I turned and gave the man a cold look.

"So you're the murderer's daughter," Rashad said.

I raised my eyebrows. "Who are you?"

"Hey, there are women in City A who don't know me, Rashad?"

"Rashad?" I disdain to smile, "Oh, it turns out that you are the notorious Rashad like a street mouse. In fact, you will be like this, and it is not difficult to understand. According to your father's logic, your grandmother Taizu is such a thing, and where can you be better?"

On the other hand, Kent is already angry and about to beat people, but Rashad is like a person who has nothing to do. Holding his arms he said. "Yes, I have inherited my ancestral heritage, but my grandmother Taizu has benefited men and I have benefited women."

"Rashad!" Kent is really angry. But then, Rashad added, "So, you're going to follow your father's footsteps, join the Dragon Bridge project, and continue to harm others?"

Kent then said, "Rashad is right. If we let the daughter of someone who once had bad intentions enter the company, we will surely take the blame in the future."

I looked at the both of them coldly, and was about to say something when the door of the conference room was pushed open again.

I'm a little surprised that it was Cheney who came in.

He went to the seat Kent gave up and sat down, cocking his legs. "Today is lively enough. People who we don't usually see much are gathered today."

When he saw Cheney, Rashad also sat down in his seat, cocked his legs and continued to play around.

Kent said, "Everybody sit down."

They all sat down, but I still stood up.

Cheney raised his eyes and looked at me. "Why haven’t you sat down yet?"

"I haven't been seated here yet."

Cheney slanted a glance at the staff in the conference room, and the other party quickly moved a chair and sent it behind me.

Seeing that position next to Rashad, he said unhappily, "Bring the chair to me."

The staff are busy doing it.

Cheney said coldly, "Come here."

Naturally knowing that he was calling me, I turned and walked over and sat down beside Cheney.

Cheney said, "Any of you here cannot participate in the Dragon Bridge project, but Krista must participate. The reason is very simple, because this project, which you people failed to win in more than 20 days, she saved it. Krista is the hero of this project. People present in the meeting who have objections can drop it. After mentioning it, leave this conference room immediately and be removed from this project."

I turned to look at him. He came to help me?

In the conference room, there was silence and no one stopped talking.

Rashad said, "Uncle, I have questions. Krista is from the Brennan family. Why don't you give this project directly to them, but handed it over to us? There won't be any traps among them."

Cheney raised his eyebrows. "The Dragon Bridge is the dowry she brought into the Fischer family."

Cheney's POV

Rashad raised his eyebrows. "Oh? So you have no intention of giving her to me."

After he said that, he looked at Krista with a ruffian smile, "Then I should agree with this marriage." He added

I put my hand on Krista's shoulder naturally, and my voice was calm. "You think too much. Krista is my fiancee, and we will get married in the near future."

As soon as I dropped the words, they were all astounded. I stood up and said, "Everyone, don't think you are wearing the top hat of an engineer, designer and cost engineer. The Dragon Bridge project has been in the company for two days. I'm afraid none of you have carefully read the information sent by the Irwin Group. I advise you to take a good look at the designer's name on the construction drawings. It's really a group of frogs at the bottom of a well.”

I took Krista’s hand and left the conference room after I said those words.

Rashad's POV

As I watched them leave, someone pointed to the information in his hand and exclaimed, "How can there be Krista's name here?"

I sat where I was, staring intently at the chair where Cheney had just sat, a little disbelieving. Uncle has changed.

Krista's POV

I just followed Cheney to his office.

There was no one around, so I asked, "Why did you go to the conference room just now? Did you come to help me on purpose?"

Cheney sat down at his desk and patted himself on the thigh.

I didn't understand what he meant.

He said with a neutral facial expression, "Come and sit down."

I frowned and didn't move but seeing that he was going to get up, I hurried towards his direction.

He said coldly, "Stay away from that Rashad in the future."

“I don’t plan on being near him, either." I said frankly. "I usually watch the news and I know what kind of person he is."

"You don't know enough about him, and I don't intend to let you know more. In short, keep in mind what I told you."

"Okay," I nodded cautiously. "Right, have you read the information from the Irwin group?"

He raised his eyebrows. "Are you in this business because of your father?"

I was nervous for a moment, hoping he didn't think too much. "Well, my father is my idol."

Instead of continuing the topic, he said, "It's not as simple as you think to participate in this project. I can't be with you all the time. You should pay more attention to yourself."

I nodded. "I know."

He looked serious. "You don't know."

"I really know," I looked at him with a firm eye. "Most of those people are Baron's people, and my existence will be regarded as a thorn in their side."

Cheney raised his eyebrows. "Aren't you afraid of that?"

I just shook my head as a response. “I am not afraid. What I want is to let them be careful because of my existence, because my father once said that bridges and roads carry not only the dreams of designers, but also the safety of pedestrians. The nightmare of the Cross River Bridge cannot be repeated."

He just frowned and looked at me strangely. "Am I right?" I added.

Cheney calmly hooked his lips. "Yes, after all, it's a matter of human life, and it really shouldn't be repeated. If you feel something is wrong, you can tell me at any time, if you need me to help you, you can also always tell me."

Cheney's POV

After Krista left, I called Milo inside the office.  "Milo, show me the information on the Cross River Bridge. This matter should be carried out quietly, and people over there should not know that I have checked this information."

Just now Krista said, look at those people and don't let the nightmare of the Cross River Bridge repeat itself.

The Cross River Bridge is not directly related to the Fischer group, so what does the nightmare have to do with the group of people in the company? Or... what did she suspect?
