Chapter 61

“Oh no, Jessie,” Clara spoke quietly then placed her hand over her mouth.

We watched Landon walk past us and enter the clinic. When we followed in behind him, we saw the nurses run up to him and guide him into a side room. Clara continued walking down the corridor, but I stopped to watch through the little square window. Landon gently placed Jessie onto the bed, then leaned over her and lovingly brushed the hair away from her face.

A nurse reached her hand out to check Jessie's pulse on her wrist, but before she could even get close to her, Landon growled at her and lunged forwards, snatching Jessie's hand out of the nurse’s reach. She jumped back in shock, then looked at the other nurses. They all nodded, then began to walk away. Landon watched as they all left the room, his eyes then met mine through the window. I was heartbroken for him and wanted to do something to help, but I knew he didn’t want me near him when he lifted his lips over his teeth into a snarl.
