chapter 60 Girl's Envy

The previous days' events hadn't left Wang Yan's mind. No matter how hard she tried to shake it off, she couldn't forget the fact that Zhang Jian had been utterly kind towards Lin Xi. The same succuba bitch that had tried to kill her.

'Sure, he doesn't know what she did, but why is he so unnecessarily kind to her?' She thought to herself, but then again, her master would be kind to every stranger he'd come across. Lin Xi had to be playing the victim card in front of him, appearing as some lost mountain woman in dire need of help from a man. She just had to be, because why else would her master be pitying her.

Her thought process had greatly hindered her ability to work around the house, as her mind kept on racing back and forward upon trying to figure out the reason why she suddenly felt so protective and possessive over Zhang Jian and how to get rid of Lin Xi. To an extent, she wished to shatter her "hourglass" figure by throwing a huge boulder on her but she had to keep her impulsive thoughts to herself.

She knew, how she was supposed to go to the farm to plow today as well but she decided not to, as she so immensely tired, and her qi seemed to have settled somewhere low in her body

She almost felt as if she was floating, all because she had been feeling sad. Sadder than usual. Her sadness rooted from the fact that she didn't think that she was important enough

Though she attempted to cover some of her tasks of the day, she ended up rushing through most of them. The rest were left half done, which wasn't something she normally did but since she had to put up an act today as well, that was infact happy as usual, she couldn't focus much on the work. Wang Yan was the sort of a person that always expressed herself no matter what the situation.

She remembered how her senior brother used to taunt her saying, "You need to learn to tie your tongue sister, it'll cause trouble for you once you grow up."

And she'd always respond with, "Sometimes you just have to say it how it is to someone. On their face."

"Thats the same as spitting on someone's face, because the result of it is going to be the same. The other person would become undeniably angry."

She'd retort back saying, "Senior Brother, you say that as if everything I'd say would stab a person. I don't only express my negative thoughts, and you know that."

Right now, was one of those moments, where she longed to express her negative thoughts but she had to practice self-control. Restraint.

Wang Yan missed her Long Yi right now, she wished to go home but it wasn't possible at the moment. All she wanted was a hug from him, and that'd bring her comfort. The both of them had always been there for each other growing up, and Long Yi had acted not only as her senior brother but also as her father as well as her mother. She entrusted him with all of her secrets and asked for advice from him about every single issue that she had faced. Right now, was one of those moments, when she so desperately needed him.

Zhang Jian had noticed Wang Yan's condition today and he was really concerned for her.

'Is it because she's homesick as well?' He thought to himself. Just like most of the times, he was right yet again. He knew that Wang Yan did not like Lin Xi, and her aggressive behavior towards her was proof of it, but he had no way of knowing what conflicting history they shared together. He decided to stay out of it as well, since he assumed that it would trigger Wang Yan even more.

'She'd probably blow up on me if I even mentioned Lin Xi's name in front of her.' He thought to himself

Now, Zhang Jian had made up his mind, that he had to lighten up her mood. Since she had been sulking the entire day and had been visibly tired.

He knew how people related problems were famous for leaving behind a lot of emotional baggage, that a person would have to get rid of themselves.

But it wasn't emotional Wang Yan had to get rid of, since the succuba had tried to kill her. Of course, Zhang Jian did not know about that, so he assumed that talking to her about it would be the best option since watching her acting like the grinch was putting a toll on Zhang Jian's mental health as well.

He called her out of her dark room, out into the sunny open space outside the house. The weather was particularly sunny while the sky was covered with these ominous yet fluffy looking clouds. He assumed that the warmth of the sun, would help her but he would soon be proved wrong about that.

She walked out of her room, and Zhang Jian almost burst into laughter, since she was somewhat resembling the grinch since there was a tuft of hair was standing in the middle of her head, almost as if it was protesting. Her posture on the other hand was an entirely separate debate, since her back was slightly hunched all while she walked ahead in a particularly lazy manner.

"Sit down with me, I want to ask you about something." He noticed a visible change in her demeanor once he said this.

Her back straightened up while a forced smile appeared on her face. It was visible that she had no actual idea how a person was supposed to pretend being happy.

"I noticed that you've been really down the entire day. You haven't been taking care of yourself today either. What's the matter?" He had channeled all of his concern into his voice before saying this, so that Wang Yan would notice it and realize how she wasn't all alone here.

But instead of answering his question she simply just twisted her face into an expression of guilt, which was followed by a look of seriousness.

Her lips parted as she spoke up, "I'm alright master. I appreciate your concern; I've just been a little under the weather today. I think that I should get back to cleaning now."

And before Zhang could properly respond, she had stormed off back into the house after grabbing the broom from nearby. It was obvious to him that he now needed to do something more than just this, since you could never force a woman to talk. Especially not when she was upset since it would create more problems than it would solve.

Suddenly, he had an idea, in his mind but he needed to implement it quick as it included a lot of physicsal work as well. His first task would be to collect the right materials, which were, pieces of straw, some wood and some rope.

He wanted Wang Yan to get out of the dark confines of the house and spend her time outside while having something fun to spend her time on so he decided to make her a swing. She could sit on it and enjoy the summer breeze on her, feeling as light as a feather.

Now came the time to start collecting the materials required. He could collect the straw and find the right kind of wood, but the rope he required would have to be bought from a small town nearby. But he had the right person for this job, and that was his steward.

Wu Ming, was ecstatic whenever Zhang Jian would personally call him and get a task done, it made him feel special and that was visible through the smile that'd cover his face.

Before Wu Ming left he made an unfunny joke that did not even make sense to Zhang Jian.

The joke was, "Are you going to hang someone master?" After saying this he had started laughing out loud, and Zhang Jian had joined in with him just because he did not want the guy to feel bad.
