Quidditch Tryouts

-Your POV-

It was Sunday and Y/N was sitting in between the stands around the Quidditch pitch, watching the Slytherin tryouts.

Well, she wasn't really watching all that much. Instead she focused on The Daily Prophet in her hands. Y/N didn't really care for Quidditch but felt obligated to come as she was the one who had convinced Draco to play this year.

And the boy hadn't lied - from how far she could tell, he was pretty good, he'd definitely make the team.

Y/N noticed him looking over to her a couple of times and she smiled back.

There weren't a lot of spectators present, most were cheering on their friends. Y/N realized that she hardly knew anybody's name despite them all being in the same house. She had been so busy with…everything, there was no time for an extensive social life.

She returned her attention to the newspaper and started reading an article on Doloris Umbridge and how she planned to revolutionize the school systems. Her ideas sounded horrible and the girl almost felt sick to her stomach.

She remembered how the other Slytherins had been discussing what to do about Umbridge - get on her good side or get rid of her? But now it seemed like they didn't really have a choice. Umbridge had come to stay.

"Supporting your boyfriend?"

Her head shot up from The Daily Prophet and into Hermione's face. She sat down next to Y/N.

"He is not my boyfriend. What are you doing here?" She felt herself blushing which didn't really help in making her sound believable.

Hermione took off her coat. "I want to talk to you. How are you?"

Y/N was surprised by the question. "I'm good, thanks. What about you?"

"That's quite the boring answer."

She shrugged. "There's just not a lot going on."

That was a complete lie. But no matter what she'd share with Hermione - the pocket watches, Trelawney's prophecy or or the kiss on the Astronomy tower - the Gryffindor would disapprove of it. Afterall, those things included Draco.

"Have you looked for the recipe?"

"No, not yet. But I will."

Right. The potion to regain her memory. With everything else, she had somewhat forgotten about it.

"And…what about our plan? Did you change your mind? Do you want to join?"

Another thing she had forgotten about. Y/N folded the newspaper, trying to stall for time as she thought about what to say.

"I think it's a really good idea to have Harry teach you how to defend yourselves. I would surely profit from it as well but…there are some things going on. And…Draco…"

She stopped and looked at the paper. Hermione seemed to understand.

"He'd have a problem with it if he found out. You like him."

Y/N didn't say anything which was answer enough.

"I honestly don't know how anyone could ever like Malfoy but it's your decision and I can't change it. But again, please don't tell anyone, because-"

"Don't worry. I won't." Y/N smiled at her reassuringly.

"Good. I should-"

"Hey Granger!" Suddenly, Draco flew over, stopping in front of the girls.

He looked at Hermione with a smug smile. "Did you get lost? Or are you here to spy?"

The girl snorted. "Spy on what exactly? How to be a loser? When was the last time Slytherin beat Gryffindor?"

Draco's expression turned to angry. "This is Slytherin tryouts. You have no right to be here!"

"Oh? Where in the school rules does it say that? Maybe once you've figured out how to play Quidditch, you can learn how to read."

He was fuming. "You little-"

"Draco," Y/N interjected. "Let it be, okay? She just wanted to talk to me."

Draco stared at her and then at Hermione, before he flew back without saying another word. The candidates had gathered in the middle of the pitch where team captain Graham Montague was about to announce the players.

Hermione looked at Y/N surprised. "Did he really listen to you?"

"I guess? What I said was reasonable so why shouldn't he?"

She shook her head. "You don't understand. He hardly lets anyone tell him what to do. I guess he really likes you."

"You think?"

"Either that or he is scared of you but I see no reason for the latter."

Y/N felt her stomach warming at the thought.

Hermione sighed. "Congrats. You made Draco Malfoy fall for you. I didn't even think he was capable of that."
