Kisses in the Dark

-Your POV-

Cold wind was rushing over their bodies and she pulled him closer. Their lips were working in unison and she was hungry. She was starving.

He had stuck his arms under her coat and wrapped them around her waist in order to keep himself warm. She pressed herself tightly against his chest, feeling his heartbeat.

To Y/N it was like a dream she never wanted to wake up from. Standing on the Astronomy Tower, alone, kissing the boy who somehow stole her heart with his perfect looks and faulty personality. And above them the stars.

It was too good to be true, yet it was true. This was really happening.

Her skin tingled as his mouth moved from her lips, over her cheek, to her neck. She didn't care if it left a mark. The whole world could know that she won the trust and affection of Draco Malfoy.

Whatever he was doing right now, he did it right and Y/N let out a sigh.

She grabbed his hair, something she had been wanting to do for such a long time. It was soft and cold, just like everything about him.

Draco was soft. And cold.

He moved back to her mouth and Y/N's legs almost gave in. She leaned against the stone pillar.

After a while, he needed to catch his breath and pulled back a bit, which she used as an opportunity to kiss her way to his ear and hairline.

"Do you know what I would do if we were alone?" he whispered. "Away from all these people."

"Mh-mh."

"Maybe I should leave it up to imagination then."

She grinned. "You just love watching people suffer, don't you?"

"I'm so sorry for making you suffer." His voice was drenched in sarcasm. "You really are in a horrible position right now."

"Why don't you torture me some more?"

Draco smiled and started kissing her again. Y/N breathed in his scent as she enjoyed the silence.

For a moment it felt like there was nothing else in the world, only the two of them. And it was more than enough.

He pulled back. "Y/N?"

"Yes?"

"We need to talk."

She furrowed her brows. 'Right now? Really?'

"Okay?"

"I really enjoy spending time with you and…this. But I don't want to fool you."

He grabbed a strand of her hair and looked at it.

"I know what you want…from me. I know what you're hoping for. But I don't know if I'm the right type of person for…commitment."

Y/N understood what he was hinting at. Her heart started beating faster. "Why?"

He didn't look into her eyes and kept playing with the hair. "I'm not good at putting myself second. And I don't know if that's a good base."

All the happiness had left Y/N's body. She felt pain. "So you're saying that you don't want to-"

"It's not about wanting. Y/N, I really like you. So much that it scares me. I don't want to hurt you. And knowing myself, I will hurt you eventually."

She shook her head. "Maybe you just need some more time."

"Maybe."

"We…like each other. We trust each other. And we are honest. That's really all we need."

Their eyes met. He sighed. "Sure. And it would work at first. But eventually-"

"I don't care about eventually. The future is completely hypothetical. I only care about right now."

She felt how tears started creeping up into her eyes.

"What do you want to do right now? In this moment?" she asked him.

"I…" Draco struggled. "I want to be with you."

"Then let's do that."

"But Y/N, seriously, I'm not good with-"

"Please stop," she interrupted him. "Don't try to decide what's best for me. I make that decision. Okay?"

She took his hands in his. They were cold as always.

He laughed but without a trace of a smile on his face. "Do you see now what I meant when I said that you're terrifying? How are you so good at talking me into things that I know will end in a disaster?"

"You don't know that. Only time will tell."

They looked at each other for a little while. Draco still seemed unsure, an emotion that rarely graced his pretty face.

"And you're okay with moving forward?" Y/N asked.

"I don't know. What does it mean exactly? Are we…dating?"

"Do you want to?"

He hesitated longer than Y/N would have expected.

"I don't know. I think I need more time. I'm sorry."

She tried to hide her disappointment behind a smile. "It's okay. Take the time you need."

Suddenly, Y/N remembered something. "The potion! I need to go check on it. I think I still remember what it should look like, I won't need tea this time."

"Alright. Let's go back."

Draco grabbed her hand and they walked down the tower.

The castle was completely quiet. On the second floor, their ways parted.

"You can go to bed, okay? I'll see you tomorrow," Y/N said.

"Okay, good luck." He pulled her into a kiss. It was mellow and short. Then Draco disappeared into the dark.
