Shudon looked taken aback. "What does an alchemist like you need with Timkin Boil? You know why he has that name, right?"

Durri frowned. "I assume he was born with it, like most people."

"Not fairies!" snapped Shudon. "Which is what he is. Fairies get their last names when they mature, and it 'usually' has something to do with how they perceive their innermost being."

"Oh," said Durri. "Then—"

"He boils people, yes," said Shudon. "Into candy. Or, it used to be candy. Now it's drugs. He still calls it candy."

"Hm," said Durri. "Oh dear."

Hudson nodded. "A villainous scoundrel."

Durri shrugged. "Well, it's a long story. If you're both serious about giving me a hand, I suppose I could tell you."

Durri considered himself an excellent judge of character. He had found throughout his life that he could look at a person and quickly tell their honorability. When he had laid eyes on Hudson and Shudon, Durri had instantly felt he could trust them.
