Chapter 31: Moonlit Interrogation

Within a short time, the six gnomes were all tied up with their backs to the cart. The donkey watched them with a grim malevolence, as though daring them to escape.

None of the bats had survived the sonic blast. Upon closer inspection, they were each the size of a basset hound, but considerably uglier.

Durri refilled his internal water supply from the well they had dug, then mixed Hudson a healing potion.

"Thank you, my friend!" The barbarian quaffed it down, smacking his lips. "Though I didn't really need it. The ground is softer than it looks."

"As were their hammers?" Durri asked, gesturing to the still-unconscious gnomes. Each wore a black tunic and pants with a tiny, conical black hat that had somehow not fallen off during their plummet to the ground.
