Chapter 32: An Unexpected Banquet

Rycer’s expression hardened at the news and he exhaled slowly. He straightened his suit, as did the rest of the group.

“Go back to your room and wait there. I’ll come and tell you what is going on. I don’t want the council to see you until they must.”

“I agree,” Igar said. “I’ll make sure your family stays out of the council’s view as well.”

‘Oh, my family!’ Vesta thought with a pang of guilt. She hadn’t seen them since the day in the ravine.

Rycer pointed towards Vesta’s room.

“Okay, Condra Tae. I’m going.” Vesta began walking down the hall, thoughts of petting Merlot soothed her anxious thoughts.

“Rycer Artis Tae.”

The sound of the name caused Vesta to turn. Appearing on the other side of Rycer and his group, five outerworld beings in long, ice-blue dresses and elegant ice-blue suits addressed the commander.
