Chapter 31: The Unseen Foe

The translator went to the door and called after the female Odratisian. Vesta heard them have a brief conversation.

“What is it?” Vesta asked.

“It seems Condra Tae has developed an infection from his wound,” Brille sighed. “Quara is getting Ducla Tae right now.”

Vesta pulled back her blankets and swung her legs over the bed. She let out an agonized groan as her sore, stiff muscles rebelled to her request for motion.

Brille ran over and put his hand on her shoulder. Giving a quiet laugh, Vesta waved him off and began to walk to the medical room.

“Vesta, I don’t think you should go in there. Tae is not well. For all we know, he could have caught the disease.”

Vesta turned around and stared at Brille, “Well, if he does have the disease, then he’ll need me right?”

Merlot growled from his spot by the fireplace. Vesta grabbed the little white translator for her ear. Miraculously, it didn’t fall off during the whole ordeal. Someone placed it on a shelf near the bed at some point.
