Chapter 12: Bound

The sun rose, creeping into the room through the partially open curtains. A new day had come. With it, a new Fallon Perry.

Opening my eyes, I stretched and sought Anthony’s warmth. He wasn’t there. I snapped upright, my eyes scanning every inch of the room. I didn’t see him, but his voice was loud and clear nearby.

As a half-breed, my skin, like the other senses, was hypersensitive. However, that morning, that sensitivity increased exponentially. The velvety fibers of the plush carpet stabbed the soles of my feet with an icy sharpness that sent an intense shiver all the way to my hairline. I shuddered and jerked one foot into the air.
