Chapter 13: Breaking Free

Breakfast was awkward, to say the least. The twins picked at their food, unsure glances periodically casting in my direction. Nash wouldn’t even look at me, keeping himself occupied with his phone. Zane, however, sat back with his arms crossed and glared at me.

He’d seen the matching puncture wounds on either side of Anthony’s neck. They were nearly healed and unnoticeable to the human eye but stood out under our powerful vision. I read the disappointment on his face like a book.

"While our manager is preoccupied, we need to discuss this," Zane said in a low voice.

"Discuss what?" I inquired, raising an eyebrow. I thought it was made clear last night that I was done letting them make my decisions for me. My choices were no longer up for family discussion.

"How far did you get last night?"

"Far enough."

Pursing his lips, he nodded slowly. "So, you saw the truth?"
