He caught me, just as I started to fall. Scooping me into his arms, he tossed a glance to Kade. "You got that?"

"All good!" Kade’s forced exclamation gave me the impression he, in fact, was not ‘all good,’ but I didn’t have the strength to turn and look. Honestly, I probably wouldn’t have wanted to, given the scuffling and thudding I heard.

Unable to assist in any way, I rested my head on Wulf’s bony shoulder. Though I hated to be manhandled, I resigned myself to the fact I required carrying down the stairs. "How do I bend their will?"

"Feed from them while they’re spelled, just like you did with Nash. You’ll have to take more than you did before."

Each descending step bounced me gently in his arms. It was oddly relaxing, almost enough to lull me to sleep. Of course, that could’ve been the blood loss. What did I know? "Okay, but like I told Kade, I have a reason for my request."

His chuckle vibrated against my ear. "That was a request?"

"For all intents and purposes."
