Chapter 39

"Wait, didn't you hear anything I said?" Crystal ran a hand down his arm, but he jerked away.

"Is your name even Crystal?" Kade asked.

His voice deepened and sent alarm coursing through her. He hated her.

"No, it's Jordan. My mother used to call us her Little Jewels." The name of their catering company. "And our uncles, well they aren't our uncles by blood, believed it fitting to be Ruby and Crystal." The word 'thieves' hung in her mind. She had hidden the truth for so long; it wasn't easy to admit everything now.

Her sister frowned as she flopped down in one of the kitchen chairs.

Dad curled his fingers into fists and stepped one foot forward in a fighter's stance as if he wished to punch Kade. "And Ruby is Terry," he snapped. "I'm sure the Westridge case file mentioned about the sisters."

Kade pinched his nose. "Yes, I remember something about a car wreck. Twins, but you look nothing alike."
