The wedding (1)

It was the day for the marriage. The courtyard gate was opened as people of high status strode in for the wedding of their crown prince and the chief priest daughter. Among the pharaoh sons, the crown prince is the first getting married which was according to the law before anyone marries in the palace. It was the rule.

The royal women were all brought in by a palanquin while the men rode a camel. The crown prince is to come a bit later after the royals were settled already for the wedding.

The wedding is surely going to be the most talked about in Egypt as some of the invited guest were from different kingdom. Different representatives from India, Israel, Persia, Babylon, and Syria. The kingdoms in alliance with Egypt. The common people all stood outside the gate as they were not allowed into the courtyard. The commons don't stay together with the royals as it was forbidden.

The pharaoh went into the large hall that was decorated for the marriage and greeted the representative from other kingdom before he went to take his seat prepared for him. The princes sat beside him on other thrones. The queens and princesses sat behind a veil, behind the pharaoh's throne. The large hall was filled with people all dressed elegantly, ready to witness the marriage.

Satiah sat in front of her mirror as the maidens helping her for the wedding were rounding up with her make up. It was the wedding day, she day she dreamt of since four days ago, but she was feeling nervous. She wasn't sure if that was how all brides feel when they want to get married that bring tears to their eyes, because she had a feeling something big will happen during the wedding, something that will change her life. She wasn't sure what it is as she only had the feeling.

Herneith wiped the tears about to fall from her eyes and smiled at the princess. "I am going to miss you a lot princess."

Satiah looked at her and looked back at the mirror. She will miss Herneith too as she have being her talking partner since she saw herself in the body of Satiah.

Semat walked in and smiled seeing her daughter. "My daughter is looking so beautiful." she said and kissed her cheeks. "It is time." she smiled broadly.

Satiah stood up and nodded.

A tear dropped from Semat eyes as she walked closer to Satiah who was looking absentminded. The day she dreads is finally here, her daughter is getting married to the prince and will be living with the ruthless royals. She was scared of how her daughter might suffer greatly at the palace.

"Dear, I won't tell you a lie now as you will see the truth somehow. The palace isn't as happy as you think it is. Your father have worked at the palace for years and we know how the palace is, the royals are ruthless and greedy. They don't mind doing anything they can to get what they want. Dear, try to live with them with no problem. Do not do something that will make them hurt you. Do everything they tell you to do and you will be just fine." she said and touched her hair.

A corner of Satiah's lips rose as she heard what her mother said. If the royals are ruthless, then she is more ruthless than they are. They should be scared of her not her scared of them. Semat held her hand and together they left her room.

The crown prince was seated already in the hall. He arrived a minute after the royals were all seated, waiting for his bride. His face was covered with a mask. The mask of the adonis, as the tradition of every crown prince marrying his queen. He sat down facing the entrance and not moving at all, like a statue placed in front of a palace gate.

The arrival of Satiah was announced and everyone turned in anticipation to see who the next destined queen looks like. Like their expectation, she was glowing like the morning sun and her beauty was to behold. The gods always choose the most beautiful ladies as the next destined queen.

Satiah was led to take her seat beside the prince who still made no move. She looked at the masked prince and wondered why he was masked with the head of a goat and why he wasn't even moved by her presence like the way the people were amazed at her beauty. She shook her head and faced the people, not wanting to think about it. She just wanted the wedding to end. She don't care if the crown prince was ugly, all she cares about is her goal to become the most powerful person in Egypt and make the deities regret bringing her to the past time.

Queen Baketmut smiled at the success of her plan. Just a few more minutes and her dream will be achieved. The crown prince getting married will surely increase his position in Egypt as he will be given the crown of the crown prince and that will make Queen Baketmut the next in command after Queen Tati and from there, she will win the pharaoh's heart and will make him love her. He will make her the queen Regnant.

The priestess came forward and bowed to the crown prince. She placed Satiah's hand on his and moved a white feather across their entangled hands.
