Finally, Isabelle came to school looking as beautiful as she will ever be. She kept looking around hoping to see that perfect face, that well-built body, that well-tanned skin. Unfortunately, he seemed to be absent. Maybe he skipped school, Isabelle thought. Knowing that Hunter has a lot of duties to attend to, she tried calming herself down with such thought.
"Isabelle" Amy whispered as she threw a piece of paper on her. She has been trying to get to her but it was impossible since the first teacher was a vampire, his superhearing will make Amy be in trouble if she tries to even whisper. All the students are always like that whenever the teacher is supernatural. The teacher present now is a human, so whispering wouldn't land her in much trouble. "you have been absentminded."
Isabelle felt embarrassed that her friend noticed her absentmindedness. "I am fine." She assured her and tried to get her attention back on the lecture only to realize she had no idea what the teacher was talking about. She sighed and thought of throwing a tantrum if she was alone. She couldn't understand why she was so frustrated. She understood the happiness of wanting to see Hunter, but she never knew her day would be this miserable for not seeing him.
The day was so boring for Isabelle since Hunter never came. She kept sighing the whole day and no matter how much she tried she couldn't engage in her friends' discussion. Silas was happy to see her, hale and hearty but he didn't notice her gloominess, not that he ever noticed in the past. He was always talking about himself and his new magic experiment and Isabelle has no idea how long she would put up to that.
Isabelle couldn't get Hunter off her head. A part of her blamed Hunter for saying he would come but failed. She knew it was silly of her to blame him but she needed to blame someone. The whole day she noticed she wasn't the only one expecting to see Hunter walk in through the door. But the mated and unmated ones had their eyes stuck to the door and she can't say she blame them.
The way he walks like he owns the place, his deep voice, the authority that radiates from him, everything about him invites Isabelle. She felt stupid fantasizing about a boy technically centuries older than her. She knew she wasn't the only one having such fantasies, virtually all the unmated girls are talking about him and they were not discreet about it. She sighed as she remembered how some girls are already saying they believe they are tye destined mate. She felt a pang of jealousy for thinking of another girl in the arms of Hunter. She went home so disappointed and the empty house that welcomed her made it all worse.
After waking up in the morning she resisted the urge to think about Hunter. She told herself that it was time to stop the teenage fantasy and be focused on her studies. She didn't have a big ambition of being popular or powerful, she didn't want to go down the same path with her parents. She just wanted a calm life where she would love and be loved in return. She stood up, straightened herself, and encouraged herself to be strong.
She was currently in her first lesson, geography. She remembered her determination when he woke up today but it takes everything in her not to look at the door whenever it opens.
"I plan on focusing..." Her inner voice was cut off by the sound of Hunter's voice.
"Sorry I am late." She heard the very same voice that speaks to her every night in her dreams. She felt the sparks travel through her and she couldn't stop herself from looking at the entrance, lo and behold, there stood her ADONIS, still wearing the glasses she gave him.
"Don't worry mister Hunter, find a seat." The teacher said as humble as he could. He is a wolf and he has had the honor of being in front of an Alpha and the royals but never has he felt anything like being in the presence of Hunter. He could feel how limitless the hybrid before him is. It would have been comical to the student if they saw how petrified their teacher was, the teacher they all try their best to avoid is now nothing but a deer caught in the headlight. They all had their attention on Hunter so no one paid attention to the teacher.
"Thanks" he turned and looked at Isabelle and smiled, her eyes widened and she felt herself melting. He moved and sat on the seat behind Isabelle, which made her brain work in hyperspeed without actually doing anything.
All the lesson was a waste because Isabelle couldn't focus, with Hunter behind her there was no way she could concentrate. She could see all the girls were looking at him, even the teachers that came in that day felt uncomfortable. They couldn't even ask the girls to pay attention to the lecture and it annoyed Isabelle. She wanted to pluck out their eyes for looking at Hunter like he was the last chocolate in the world. What annoyed her the most was that she couldn't turn back and see Hunter's face.
He was wearing the glasses Isabelle gave him, just like the day she saw him on TV. It made her happy, and that was the only comforting thought. Normally, they are not allowed to wear unprescribed glasses to school, but Isabelle has a feeling that no one will ask Hunter about his, because no one wanted to die. Just as everyone was distracted from the class, Hunter also was distracted. He was controlling himself from grabbing Isabelle's hair and sniffing it. Her raven black hair and golden color skin were just a temptation that is taking Hunter her whole power to resist. He was resting his chin on her hand and the glasses hid perfectly where he was looking at. Unable to resist the temptation, he let his arm fall gently and the tip of his finger was able to brush against Isabelle's hair. It was silky as he had imagined and he smiled inwardly. Isabelle had no idea what just happened but she would trade seats with any girl if it would allow her to look at the ruggedly handsome face.
The bell rang and the class ended Isabelle started packing her bags quickly so that she would be far away from him and stare at him from distance.
"What's your next class?" he asked and Isabelle have no idea if her heart could handle such emotions. She looked up at him and saw the face she had been yawning to see, it was a miracle she was still standing.
"I...I....me....social....social studies." She stuttered and it gave Hunter joy that he was already having this much control over her though she is yet to know he was her mate. Isabelle felt confused for having all these feelings, she quickly looked away so that he wouldn't see her blushing.
"Me too," he said with his deep sexy voice and Isabelle froze. Isabelle wondered if she would be able to survive being with him in another class. She would be glad if he doesn't sit behind her. "grab your things let's walk to class together." Isabelle turned only to see him smiling at her and she knew it would be worse if he sat with another female.
